Antonio Galloni 97 points “The 2006 Dom Perignon is a beautifully balanced, harmonious Dom Perignon that strikes an incredibly appealing stylistic middle ground. Rich, voluptuous and creamy, the 2006 shows off fabulous intensity in a style that brings together the ripeness of 2002 with the greater sense of verve and overall freshness that is such a signature of the 2004. Bass notes and a feeling of phenolic grip on the finish recall the 2003, as the Pinot Noir is particularly expressive today. After an irregular summer that saw elevated temperatures in July followed by cooler, damp conditions in August, more favorable weather returned in September, pushing maturation ahead and leading to a long, protracted harvest.… Read the rest

Domaine Fourrier & Jean-Marie Fourrier

Domaine Fourrier:

Grand Cru and Beyond

In Stock Now & Arriving Early November

Domaine Fourrier makes some of the most captivating wines in Burgundy. To Burgophiles, this isn’t much of a claim—the wines that Jean-Marie has produced since taking over from his father have become hot tickets in the Burgundy world. If you aren’t familiar, though, these are wines to put on your radar. Fourrier’s style is heavily influenced by his time working under Henri Jayer and the wines show this.

When young they’re among the most impressive in Burgundy, combining succulent fruit with minerality and a complexity that’s nearly unmatched in newly released wines. They improve with age, as well, though we’ve always had a hard time keeping our hands off of the lower-tier wines in the first five years after the vintage.… Read the rest

Domaine de Courcel

Arriving Mid-November

Of the short list of producers who star in Pommard, Domaine de Courcel needs to be near the top of the list. Without a tremendous amount of fanfare, the Domaine has been turning out some of the most powerful, densely aromatic wines from a village known for long lived brooding Pinot Noir. The Courcel family has been learning how to navigate the animal intensity of Pommard fruit for 400 years. For the past two decades, the quality has steadily increased as the delicate balance between elegance and power is fine tuned.

A region between hills, most of Pommard’s vineyards are on relatively flat, protected sites. Wind and lashing rains may buffet the nearby hillside vineyards, but Pommard stays sheltered from the worst of the effects of the weather.… Read the rest

“classic Corton”
Six bottles of Domaine de la Romanee-ContiDomaine de la Romanee-Conti Corton Grand Cru, Cote de Beaune 2010 750ML Buy Now: $1,599, only 1 bottle available
Burghound 93 points “A very ripe yet fresh nose of dark berry fruit, violets and plum enjoy added breadth from the presence of spice, earth and distinct sauvage nuances. This sauvage aspect also characterizes the remarkably rich and full-bodied flavors that possess a velvety texture from the copious amounts of dry extract. The supporting structure possesses a high degree of phenolic maturity and outstanding length on the ever-so-slightly warm finish. This is relatively fine, at least within the context of the typical robust and chewy style of a classic Corton.”… Read the rest

Domaine Armand Rousseau

The King of Gevrey-Chambertin

Extensive Stocks of Library Rousseau

The wines of Rousseau have no peer in Gevrey-Chambertin. No other grower has produced wines with their level of profundity and a similar track record over the decades. From top to bottom, they are the class of the village. We are always on the hunt for their wines—as you’d expect they’re maddeningly scarce and correspondingly expensive, but we recently hit the jackpot and now have 25 different bottlings arriving next week.
