“Our aim is to express the true nature of Burgundy through our wines, a terroir that can be both proud of its past and optimistic about its future.” – Maison Louis Jadot

Louis Jadot’s label, with the Bacchus head, decorative frieze, and the signature pale yellow paper, is perhaps one of the most instantly recognizable of all Burgundy producers. Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by the Jadot family, beginning their estate with the Clos des Ursules vineyard still in the family’s posession to this day. A significant core of Jadot’s domaine vines were assembled some 60 years prior to the formation of Maison Jadot, this holding of  eleven grand and premier cru vineyards totaling about 16 hectares were all left to the Jadot family and have been a part of the Jadot estate ever since. These original domaine holdings are highlighted on their respective bottle labels as Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot.

Today, Jadot is one of the largest winemaking and negotiant houses in the world, with over 100 various vineyard holdings throughout Burgundy, Beaujolais, and Macon.  After the death of the last male members of the family, long-time manager André Gagey took over running the business which was subsequently purchased

by the Koph family, owners of Jadot’s US importers, Kobrand. The company is today run by Pierre-Henry Gagey, who maintains Jadot with a team of 70 people, including the house’s winemaker as of 2010, Frederic Barnier. Together, this team works to maintain the Jadot ideology of expressing the true nature of Burgundy’s wines, guaranteeing quality throughout their whole range. Vinification balances tradition and technology, focusing on the truest expression of each wine’s terroir, with restrained use of new oak to allow the pure flavors of the wine to show.

2012 in Burgundy, like many vintages of the past decade, promised the worst and came through with the best. Though yields are low, making these sought after reds and whites even more difficult to find, 2012 is looking to be another great year for Burgundy, offering up glamorous reds and superbly concentrated and intense whites. Variation in style and flavor profile are to be expected as Jadot’s holdings run the expanse of Burgundy, but there is one consistency in Jadot’s winemaking: value. Whether a Grand Cru or village level bottling, Jadot’s prides itself on producing the top quality level in every area they grow or source from.

The palate is nicely balanced with a fine line of acidity, hints of tangerine and spice, leading to a nicely composed, vibrant finish. This is a mild mannered but well-crafted Puligny.”  From the winery “The Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts” is rich, less tight than “les Combetes” with various smells of fruit. This great white wine is destined to honour haute cuisine : shellfish cooked in a court-bouillon, creamed and poached fish, poultry liver pâtés, ripe cheeses like Munster and mature Comté.”

The palate is very intense on the entry with a mineral core wrapped up in precise orange zest and spicy notes that fan out sensually across the slightly saline finish. This is a Chevalier that you have to think about, unfurling in the glass, surely with hidden facets that will be revealed with age. This is a regal grand cru.” From the winery “Maison Louis Jadot produces limited quantities of this grand cru, which in many vintages equals or surpasses Le Montrachet in concentration and complexity. Its bright, golden colour and penetrating fragrance of toast and honey predict the rich, mellow fruit flavours, velvety elegance and intense finish of this wine of exceptional grace and breed. This wine best suits turbot, monkfish, scallops with white truffles, roasted lobster, grilled foie gras, braised veal, free range chicken ”

The palate is nicely balanced with a tense, yet slightly mellifluous entry. There is a fine bead of acidity here that cuts through the leesy, citrus fruit. The finish is mild-mannered but nicely focused. Very fine.” From the winery “Corton Charlemagne is powerful, rich, and mineral with an intense flavour of fruits and flowers and spicy aromas of pepper and cinnamon. It goes very well with haute cuisine, fish and shellfish, white meat and poultry with cream sauces.”
Louis Jadot Batard Montrachet Grand Cru Cote de Beaune 2012 ($359.95) $279 pre-arrival special 6 bottles available Wine Spectator 94-97 points “Lanolin, creamy, intense, terroir-driven, powerful and long. Citronella and chalky components.” From the winery “Bâtard Montrachet is a full bodied wine, rich and powerful. It stuns the drinker with intense flavor of almonds, ripe apple, white flowers, honey and spices. In addition, the length in the mouth is remarkable. Batard Montrachet is the perfect partner for elegant dining: foie gras, appetizers, lobsters, scallops. ”
Louis Jadot Le Montrachet Grand Cru Cote de Beaune 2012 ($699.95) $599 pre-arrival special 6 bottles available Wine Spectator 94-97 points , Wine Advocate 92-94 points “There are five barrels of the 2012 Montrachet Grand Cru in 2012 compared to the usual ten. The nose is surprisingly reticent at first, opening gradually in the minerality poking its head from under the covers. Coming back after three minutes, the aromatics are accelerating away. The palate is very well-balanced as one would hope, very focused with subtle, spicy notes under the carapace of citrus fruit.”  From the winery “Le Montrachet has a very nice, bright and shiny gold colour. It is a complex and powerful wine. Its comparable depth, intense fruit elegance, and layers of complex, textural richness, reflected in a sublime bouquet reminiscent of honey toast, culminate with a  persistent finish. This wine best suits « haute cuisine » : ‘crustacés à la nage’, poached fish in cream sauce, liver pâtés.”

Louis Jadot Chambolle Musigny Cote de Nuits 2012 ($79.95) $69 pre-arrival special 6 bottles available From the winery“Louis Jadot produces a deeply coloured wine which develops a red berries fruits – and undergrowth aromas when older. Full bodied, delicate this wine has a silky finish. The soil is responsible for Chambolle Musigny’s exceptional delicacy and a character not possessed by any other wine of the Côte de Nuits. It will perfectly match with delicate dishes, not too spicy like red meat, game and quite strong cheeses.”
Louis Jadot Savigny les Beaune Clos des Guettes 1er Cru Cote de Beaune 2012 ($49.95) $39 pre-arrival special 12 bottles available Wine Advocate 89-91 points “The 2012 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Guettes comes from the lower slopes of the clos. It demonstrates very good intensity on the nose with rounded, almost plush dark plum and raspberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, good substance. Overall, you might describe this as a ‘solid’ Savigny that attests to the low yields. Excellent.”  From the winery “Maison Louis Jadot produces a red Savigny les Beaune of medium-deep colour. The bouquet is elegant, powerful with blackcurrant and cherry aromas. Supple, nicely tannic, it has a fine structure, producing a feminine image. This wine will be perfect with any light dishes, red or white meat or feathered game. Highly flavoured sauce will be perfect with an old wine.”
Louis Jadot Domaine des Heritiers Louis Jadot Beaune Clos des Ursules Monopole 1er Cru Cote de Beaune 2012 ($99.95) $79 pre-arrival special 24 bottles available Wine Advocate 91-93 points “The 2012 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules is one of their premier holdings with a propensity to age with class. It has a fragrant, more floral bouquet with fine delineation – perhaps more feminine than the other Beaune premier crus. The palate is ripe and generous on the entry. This has good substance and breeding, the quality of the terroir really coming through on the persuasive finish that lingers long in the mouth. This Clos des Ursules is brimming over with confidence and class. Bravo!”  From the winery “Beaune Premier Cru “Clos des Ursules” is a full, firm and rich wine. It is fine, with a slightly earthy bouquet and long, lush finish,  converge in a wine which perfectly balances elegance and power. It works harmoniously with delicate meat dishes as well as most cheeses.”
Louis Jadot Domaine des Heritiers Louis Jadot Corton Pougets Grand Cru Cote de Beaune 2012 ($149.95) $119 pre-arrival special 6 bottles available Antonio Galloni 93-95 points “Black cherries, plums, smoke, licorice, new leather and cloves jump from the glass as the 2012 Corton Pougets shows off its personality. Rich, concentrated and voluptuous to the core, the 2012 is unusually opulent in this vintage. The tannins are nearly buried by the pure resonance of the fruit. This is going to be a fascinating wine to follow.”  From the winery “This exceptional site yields a wine of sumptuous brilliance and complexity, powerfully structured and richly fruited. The aromatic Pinot Noir bouquet and deep, layered berry and oak flavours culminate in a seductive, persistent finish. The red wines will complement roast meat or meat in a highly-seasoned sauce, game and most cheeses.”
Louis Jadot Nuits St Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru Cotes de Nuits 2012 ($149.95) $119 pre-arrival special 2 cases available Stephen Tanzer 91-94 points “Healthy dark red.  Lovely lift to the complex aromas of red and black fruits, minerals, violet and licorice.  Suave on entry, then fine-grained, vinous and brisk, boasting terrific mineral energy and peppery lift to the flavors of blackberry, flowers and menthol.  This wonderfully silky, shapely wine finishes with noble tannins and captivating mineral and floral perfume.”  From the winery “Maison Louis Jadot produces a characteristically firm and full-bodied Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru « Les Boudots ». Rich and vigorous on the palate, with a deep, pungent bouquet, it shows considerable dimension and structure, acquiring a mellow depth and softness with bottle age. It will be a good partner for red wine sauces, marinated or roasted game, medium tasting cheeses.”
Louis Jadot Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru Cote de Beaune 2012 ($149.95) $119 pre-arrival special 6 bottles available Wine Advocate 89-91 points “The 2012 Corton Clos de Roi Grand Cru has a straightforward, tightly knit bouquet with seaweed-tinged red berry fruit that lift nicely from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent entry. There is plenty of fruite here that probably belies the structure on the finish. This is a ‘solid’, dependable Clos du Roi.” From the winery “Corton Clos du Roi is very aromatic, very subtle and elegant, full of breed. This Grand Cru is the perfect companion to red meat and game.”
Louis Jadot Vosne Romanee Les Suchots 1er Cru Cotes des Nuits 2012 ($179.95) $149 pre-arrival special 6 bottles available Wine Advocate 91-93 points “The 2012 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Suchots has a typically more floral and feminine bouquet, erring more towards the red fruit spectrum: raspberry, crushed strawberry and Morello emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded, fleshy opening. There is good weight and extract here, although it remains linear, preferring not to fan out on the finish, but remain ‘correct’ and perhaps ‘conservative’. Again, this will require 5 to 6-years in the cellar.”  From the winery “It will be perfect with game, meats in sauce and strong cheeses. Typically, « Suchots » combines the richness of Le Richebourg with the delicacy of Romanée Saint Vivant. Concentrated and velvety, yet with a restrained elegance and refinement, it marries ripe fruit and tannins to notes of exotic spices and oak, with a subtle, perfumed bouquet and extended silky finish.”
Louis Jadot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Cote de Nuits 2012 ($219.95) $179 pre-arrival special 6 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 91-94 points “Good bright, deep red.  Very ripe aromas of black cherry, licorice, dark chocolate and espresso; less floral than the Gevrey premier crus that preceded it in my tasting.  Backward but brisk, with good minty lift and energy to the liqueur-like black cherry, menthol and spice flavors.  For all its ripeness, this wine also shows an enticing coolness.  Finishes with substantial ripe tannins, very good cut and plenty of structure to support a slow evolution in bottle.”  From the winery “The Clos-Vougeot is a wine of power and depth which retains an elegant complexity It has a  full fragrant and distinctly floral bouquet. Maison Louis Jadot “Clos Vougeot” will accompany “haute cuisine” dishes. With its delicate yet powerful aromas, one would choose red meat, roasted or served with a sauce, roasted pheasant, leg of wild boar or venison and ripe cheeses which are not too strong : Camembert, Brillat-Savarin, Citeaux.”
Louis Jadot Gevrey Chambertin Clos St Jacques 1er Cru Cotes de Nuits 2012 ($219.95) $179 pre-arrival special 2 cases available Wine Advocate 92-94 points, Wine Spectator 92-95 points “The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques has a fragrant bouquet: floral at first with touches of violet, later revealing a stony scents, hints of chalk dust and flint surfacing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and impressive focus. It feels composed in the mouth with good matiere, yet it remains sophisticated and tense right to the finish. There is nothing flash here, just pure quality.”  From the winery “The Gevrey-Chambertin « Clos Saint Jacques » is a fullbodied and complex wine. It shows a broad palet of aromas, both powerful and elegant, with an impressive length in the mouth. It will perfectly match game, meat in sauce, mushrooms and strong cheese. This wine really comes from a very original place giving a particular complexity to the Pinot Noir grape.”
Louis Jadot Echezeaux Grand Cru Cotes de Nuits 2012 ($279.95) $219 pre-arrival special 6 bottles available Wine Advocate 92-94 points “The 2012 Echezeaux Grand Cru has a sensual, expressive, kaleidoscopic bouquet with wonderful vibrant blackberry, cassis and blueberry scents infused with minerals. The palate is beautifully balanced with fine, sappy red berry fruit, a citric thread of racy acidity that neatly offsets the extravagant finish. There is plenty to savour on the vibrant, vivacious Echezeaux.” From the winery “Louis Jadot Echezeaux  is a solid, well constituted, powerful as well as a delicate wine. It develops fine and intense Pinot Noir fruity aromas as well as spices notes. It is very long in the mouth. It will be perfect with roasts, game, meats in sauce and fine cheeses.”
Louis Jadot Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru Cote de Nuits 2012 ($319.95) $279 pre-arrival special 6 bottles available Wine Advocate 95-97 points “The glorious 2012 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru, which is domaine-owned, shows a little more wood at the moment although it is embroidered with the carapace black cherry and raspberry fruit. With aeration, it reveals attractive sea spray aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with cashmere tannins and sensual texture that lend it a more Vosne-like personality. It is very harmonious and there is a thrilling crescendo towards its precocious, yet classy finish. Superb.”  From the winery “Louis Jadot produces a rich and sumptuous wine  with an extraordinary delicacy, elegance and finesse. The silken texture finishes in refined, complex notes of berries, earth and oak. It will perfectly match with sophisticated dishes like meat ‘en sauce’, game and strong cheeses.”
Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares Grand Cru Cotes de Nuits 2012 ($419.95) $349 pre-arrival special 12 bottles available Wine Advocate 93-95 points, Wine Spectator  93-96 points “The 2012 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, which underwent a tardy malolactic fermentation, is surprisingly well behaved on the nose strict at first and preferring to unfold in piecemeal fashion to reveal saturnine black fruit laced with inkwell and Indian spice scents. The palate is very well balanced packed full of dense black fruit and struck through with a keen, almost racy acidity. The finish is very solid and structured for Bonnes-Mares that I suspect will age extremely well. In its youth, I suspect this will be impressive more than pleasurable…at least for the first decade of its life.”  From the winery “Louis Jadot produces a wine of great distinction, with a powerful yet refined perfume of violets and red berries and a finely balanced, fruit richness on the palate. The subtle tannins carry into a prolonged finish. It will perfectly match with delicate dishes not too spicy (red meat in sauce, cheeses).”
Louis Jadot Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru Cotes de Nuits 2012 ($419.95) $359 pre-arrival special 6 bottles available Wine Advocate 93-95 points “The 2012 Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru is more mild-mannered and serious on the nose when compared to the Echezeaux–poker-faced black fruit hand in hand with tertiary aromas. The palate is very refined with silky smooth tannins. This is very harmonious with impressive weight and sensuality towards the finish that fans out with more precision and grace than the Echezeaux, retaining tight control at every moment. Excellent.”  From the winery “With a deep colour, Louis Jadot produces a powerful wine with intense red fruits and spices aromas. It is a structured wine with a very nice balance. It will perfectly match with sophisticated dishes like red meat “in sauce” (boeuf bourguignon), marinated game or quite strong cheeses.”
Louis Jadot Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru Cote de Nuits 2012 ($479.95) $399 pre-arrival special 12 bottles available Wine Advocate 95-97 points, Wine Spectator 94-97 points “The 2012 Chambertin Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru, which like the Chapelle-Chambertin is domaine-owned, has a more voluminous, multi-faceted bouquet with engaging incense and mineral notes infusing the beautifully defined black fruits. The palate is very well balanced on the entry with more tension and nervosite than the Chambertin, building effortlessly towards a quite regal, sophisticated finish whose mineralite lingers long in the mouth. Outstanding.”  From the winery “Louis Jadot produces a rich and sumptuous wine  with an extraordinary balance of power, elegance and finesse. The brilliant, brocaded texture finishes with a long, lingering note of berries and oak. It will perfectly match sophisticated dishes like meats ‘en sauce’, game and strong cheeses.”

Louis Jadot Domaine Gagey Clos des Guettes, Savigny-les-Beaune Blanc Premier Cru 2011 ($41.95) $33 special 18 bottles available John Gilman 90 points
“The 2011 Clos des Guettes blanc is again a very pretty wine, with that telltale touch of pastry cream on both the nose and palate that indicates the malo was partially blocked here. The stylish and inviting bouquet is a lovely mélange of apple, orange, crème patissière, stony minerality and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and quite driven by its underlying minerality, with snappy acids and very fine length and grip on the youthful finish. This is very tasty, but will want a year or two in the cellar to fully blossom…”
Louis Jadot Meursault 2011 ($49.95) $41.90 special 17 bottles available John Gilman 91 points “The 2011 Meursault AC from Maison Jadot was really singing at the time of my visit and should prove to be an admirable value in this vintage. The very stylish nose offers up a complex base of apple, pear, tangerine, lightly-toasted almonds, spring flowers, chalky soil tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, crisp and complex, with fine focus and backend bounce, a very good core, zesty acids and excellent focus and grip on the very long and well-balanced finish. A fine, fine village wine”
Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet 2011 ($54.95) $44 special 25 bottles available John Gilman 91+ points “The 2011 Jadot white Burgundy village wines are exceptionally strong in this vintage, and the Chassagne AC looks to be the pick of the litter! The deep and excellent bouquet offers up a classic mélange of apple, orange, lime zest, deep soil tones, vanillin oak and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, young and very deep, with a lovely sense of reserve, crisp acids and a very long, poised and laser-like finish of superb length and grip. The domaine has really been making an effort to produce better and better wines at the village wine level and these 2011s show that the effort has really paid off! A superb wine.”
Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet 2011 ($59.95) $49 special 22 bottles available Burghound 89-91 points “There is enough reduction present to render the nose hard to assess but the underlying fruit appears to be ripe. There is very fine volume and very good mid-palate concentration as the extract really coats the palate while simultaneously buffering the moderately firm acid spine on the seductively textured, clean and attractively dry finish. As is so often the case with this wine, it is an excellent villages and well worth considering.”
Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts Premier Cru 2011 ($69.95) $59 special 12 bottles available
Louis Jadot Caillerets, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru 2010 ($84.95) $69 special 10 bottles available John Gilman 93 points
“The 2010 Caillerets from Maison Jadot is another excellent premier cru. The deep and very classy nose wafts from the glass in an elegant blend of lemon, pear, apple, spring flowers, a beautiful base of terres blanches and a deft base of new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and seamless, with a beautiful core of silky fruit, great intensity of flavor, brisk acids and a very long, pure and classy finish.”
Louis Jadot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2011 ($139.95) $119 special 9 bottles available Burghound 92-95 points “Like the Montrachet, this is also presently quite aromatically reticent with its aromas of lemon/lime, wet stone and Granny Smith apples that are trimmed in a subtle application of warm oak. The equally expansive, taut and well-muscled broad-shouldered flavors possess an ample amount of dry extract and intensity on the driving finish that exhibits a faint saline character. I very much like the intensity here as well as the very dry backend and this should be superb if allowed adequate cellar time.”
Louis Jadot Domaine des Heritiers Louis Jadot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2010 ($189.95) $129 special 18 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 96 points “Brilliant pale yellow. Precise, penetrating aromas of green melon, ginger, quinine and dusty stone. Silky on entry, then sappy and deep in the middle, with a powerful crushed stone character and strong limey acidity combining to give the wine uncanny energy. This is almost painful today. This extremely dense, long wine may ultimately surpass Jadot’s Chevalier-Montrachet.”
Louis Jadot Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2011 ($319.95) $249 special 6 bottles available Wine Spectator 95 points “Butter, floral and spice aromas and rich peach and melon flavors come together with the creamy texture in this intense and opulent white. Harmonious and expressive, but this will be even better in two to three years. Offers a lingering, complex aftertaste, where a mineral element emerges. Best from 2016 through 2027.”  John Gilman 95 points “The 2011 Bâtard-Montrachet from Louis Jadot is another brilliant wine in the making, soaring from the glass in a deep and very youthful aromatic blend of apple, lime zest, tangerine, complex soil tones, a touch of iodine and a gentle base of new wood. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very powerfully-built, with a rock solid core, snappy acids and stunning focus and grip on the very young, structured and magical finish. A very pure and racy example of young Bâtard-Montrachet that has been built to last!…”
Louis Jadot Domaine des Heritiers Louis Jadot Les Demoiselles Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2011 ($399.95) $319 special 3 bottles available Burghound 93-95 points “An ultra-pure and high-toned nose of wet stone, spiced pear and acacia blossom and green apple is also trimmed in just enough oak to notice. The markedly stony broad-shouldered and tautly muscular flavors possess almost painful intensity on the crystalline and explosively long finish. 2011 is a vintage where the Demoiselles is bigger than it typically is yet there is absolutely no loss of refinement or elegance.”
Louis Jadot Montrachet Grand Cru 2009 ($549.95) $449 special 4 bottles available John Gilman 95+ points “The 2009 Jadot Montrachet (which hails from the Chassagne side of the vineyard, by the way) is also exceptional. The nose offers up a great and compelling mélange of apple, white peach, lemon, great minerality, floral tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and superbly structured, with a rock solid core of fruit, beautiful focus and balance, impeccable grip and a very long, racy and refined finish. A wonderful bottle of wine. 2020-2050′
Louis Jadot Le Montrachet Grand Cru 2011 ($499.95) $419 special 3 bottles available Burghound 94-97 points “Here the nose is notably more reserved with aromas of citrus zest, spice, wood toast, fennel and spice hints. This is also a very imposingly-scaled wine with its big, muscular and wonderfully complex flavors that culminate in a long, focused and explosive finish of breathtaking length and intensity. This overtly powerful effort should reward at least a decade in the cellar and drink well for another. A ‘wow’ wine.”

Louis Jadot Marsannay 2009 ($39.95) $24 special 11 bottles available Burghound 87-89 points “A distinctly earthy yet quite pretty, indeed even somewhat perfumed nose of raspberry and cherry aromas leads to detailed, supple and delicious middle weight flavors where the tannins are only mildly rustic on the firm but not tough and slightly warm finish. This should offer 4 to 6 years of improvement.”
Louis Jadot Domaine des Heritiers Louis Jadot En Caradeux Clos de la Croix de Pierre Rouge, Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru 2009 ($44.95) $27 special 17 bottles available Burghound 89 points ‘Outstanding’ “Not surprisingly, this is an extremely fresh ’09 with its bright red berry fruit, stone and subtle earth aromas that precede delicious, intense and attractively vibrant middle weight flavors that possess good detail and focus on the ever-so-mildly austere but lingering finish. This has good underlying material and should benefit from a few years in bottle in order to round out a bit as it’s somewhat standoffish at present.”
Louis Jadot Les Teurons, Beaune Premier Cru 2009 ($59.95) $33 special 16 bottles available Wine Spectator 91 points “Bright and succulent, with a touch of oak lending spice accents to the candied cherry core. An elegant, lacy red, yet with intensity. Feels like it’s holding something back. Best from 2015 through 2027. 229 cases imported.”
Louis Jadot Les Bressandes Rouge, Beaune Premier Cru 2011 ($59.95) $33 special 6 bottles available Burghound 87-89 points “This is slightly riper than the Savigny and more floral as well with its attractive mix of white orchard fruit and softly oaky aromas. There is plenty of flesh to the mid-palate as the enveloping middle weight flavors possess a seductive mouth feel, all wrapped in a forward, delicious and easy-to-like finish.”
Louis Jadot Les Bressandes Rouge, Beaune Premier Cru 2009 ($59.95) $36 special 7 bottles available Wine Spectator 91 points “Though the cherry flavor is bright and pure, there’s a woody component to this wine that lends a sweet spice note and dry tannins to the finish. Elegant and tight-grained. Best from 2015 through 2027. 170 cases imported”
Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 2010 ($54.95) $39 special 27 bottles available John Gilman 89+ points “The 2010 Gevrey AC was also one of the last to finish up malo in the cellars this year, but the wine was showing very good potential. The nose is a fine mélange of black cherries, cassis, coffee bean, fresh herb tones, woodsmoke and black minerality. On the palate the wine is fullish, long and complete, with a fine core, moderate tannins and very good length and grip on the tangy finish. This too will get a ‘booster’ of de-classified premier cru barrels and will probably merit a 90+ point score once that takes place.”
Louis Jadot Domaine des Heritiers Louis Jadot En Caradeux Clos de la Croix de Pierre Rouge, Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru 2010 ($49.95) $39 special 3+ cases available Wine Enthusiast 92 points “The Clos de la Croix de Pierre forms part of the En Caradeux premier cru, and it creates poised wines. This is the red partner to a white also produced by Louis Jadot, and it displays juicy red fruit, layered with firm tannins. Drinkable now, but also capable of aging for five years.”
Louis Jadot Les Narbantons, Savigny-les-Beaune Premier Cru 2010 ($.95) $39 special 22 bottles available Antonio Galloni 90 points “The 2010 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Dominodes has a vivacious nose with plenty of crisp red currant and fresh strawberry fruit that burst from the glass. The palate is well-balanced with crisp acidity, firm grip and a touch of spice toward the lifted finish. This is a lovely, lilting Savigny that I would rather drink in its youth. Drink now-2017.”
Louis Jadot La Dominode, Savigny-les-Beaune Premier Cru 2010 ($49.95) $39 special 10 bottles available Wine Advocate 90 points “The 2010 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Dominodes has a vivacious nose with plenty of crisp red currant and fresh strawberry fruit that burst from the glass. The palate is well-balanced with crisp acidity, firm grip and a touch of spice toward the lifted finish. This is a lovely, lilting Savigny that I would rather drink in its youth. Drink now-2017.-NM”
Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 2011 ($52.95) $41.90 special 24 bottles available  John Gilman 90 points “The Jadot team vinified the Gevrey AC in its entirety and this too, is a very strong village wine in 2011. The deep, quite red fruity and superb nose jumps from the glass in a mix of cherries, blood orange, grilled meats, mustard seed, dark soil tones and cedar. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and very soil-driven, with excellent focus and balance, fine-grained tannins and very good length and grip on the backend. Another excellent village wine, and this too will receive a chunk of premier crus into the final blend before bottling!”
Louis Jadot Nuits-Saint-Georges 2011 ($52.95) $41.90 special 24 bottles available  Burghound 87-89 Points “An earthy and quite somber nose of dark berries, underbrush and cassis aromas slides into attractively round and supple flavors that possess good volume before culminating in a delicious if mildly rustic finish. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated and this is a classic Nuits villages in character and style.”
Louis Jadot Nuits-Saint-Georges 2010 ($54.95) $44 special 35 bottles available John Gilman 88+ points “The current rendition of the 2010 Jadot Nuits AC is long and complex, but a bit four-square at the present time. Keep in mind though that this wine will probably be ‘dressed up’ a bit with the addition of some barrels of premier cru, so in all likelihood, my score will ultimately prove to be quite conservative for this wine in its finished form.Today, the nose offers up notes of red and black cherries, coffee, woodsmoke, fresh herbs and a fine, complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and impressively sappy at the core, with a very good signature of soil, ripe tannins and fine length and grip on the finish. If this wine gains a bit more refinement from its addition of de-classified premier cru, this will be outstanding.”
Louis Jadot Chambolle-Musigny 2010 ($59.95) $49 special 19 bottles available Burghound 89-91 points “Outstanding Selection” A very pure nose of wet stone, spice and an elegant mix of various wild red berries. There is good richness to the mouth coating flavors that possess excellent volume and surprisingly good power, all wrapped in a mineral-driven finish that delivers excellent length. This is a big Chambolle and an especially big villages yet it remains harmonious and refined. Worth considering.”
Louis Jadot Domaine des Heritiers Louis Jadot Vignes Franches ‘Clos des Ursules’ Monopole, Beaune Premier Cru 2011 ($59.95) $49 special 6 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 90-93 points “Medium red. Reticent aromas of redcurrant and flowers. Sweet and suave but youthfully unevolved owing to the late malolactic fermentation. Juicy, nicely delineated flavors of raspberry and rose petal. Finishes with firm but sweet tannins and enticing lift. This holds out considerable promise.”
Louis Jadot Clos de La Commaraine, Pommard Premier Cru 2010 ($59.95) $49 special 24 bottles available Wine Advocate 89-91 points “The 2010 Pommard Clos de la Commaraine is a little fleshier and deeper than the villages, but it remains relatively airy and delicate. Sweet red berries, flowers, licorice and tobacco are some of the notes that are woven together in this gorgeous Burgundy. The firm tannins will need a few years in bottle to soften. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030.”
Louis Jadot Clos de la Barre Monopole, Volnay Premier Cru 2010 ($84.95) $59 special 13 bottles available John Gilman 92+ points “The premier cru of Clos de la Barre is located immediately below the village center of Volnay, tucked in on the slope between les Angles to its north and Clos de la Bousse d’Or to its south. The 2010 from Maison Jadot is outstanding and another real sleeper to search out in this vintage. The classy and very precise bouquet offers up scents of cassis, dark berries, espresso, dark chocolate, a great base of complex minerality and just a hint of new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with impressive complexity, ripe tannins, a lovely core and impressive grip on the long and tangy finish. A beautiful bottle of Volnay in the making, the 2010 Jadot Clos de la Barre will need the better part of a decade to fully blossom and should age for a very long time.”
Louis Jadot Les Santenots, Volnay Premier Cru 2010 ($84.95) $59 special 19 bottles available Wine Enthusiast 93 points “Santenots, like most premier crus, is located halfway down the slope. This is structured, yet it remains ripe and fruity, and it shows off the voluptuous texture that’s characteristic of Volnay. There is fine balance between the acidity and fruit, and the dry core promises aging potential.”
Louis Jadot Les Rugiens, Pommard Premier Cru 2009 ($89.95) $69 special 1 bottle available     Wine Spectator 92 points “Though ripe with cherry and plum flavors, this red is also fresh and well-toned, courtesy of its rigid tannins. All the elements are in the right proportions, with a nice marriage of fruit and tannins on the finish. Best from 2015 through 2024. 90 cases imported.”
Louis Jadot Les Boudots, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru 2010 ($99.95) $77 special 18 bottles available John Gilman 93+ points “The Boudots parcel is owned by the Gagey family and has consistently been one of my favorite premier crus in the Maison Jadot lineup for many years now. The 2010 version is a great classic and will once again be a great sleeper. The bouquet is deep, pure and utterly refined, as it offers up scents of plums, red and black cherries, coffee, raw cocoa, a beautiful base of complex soil tones, woodsmoke and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a sappy core of fruit, ripe tannins, lovely transparency and outstanding length and grip on the tangy and very elegant finish. A beautiful bottle of Nuits in the making.”
Louis Jadot Les Boudots, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru 2011 ($99.95) $79 special 18 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 91(+?) points “Medium red. Brooding aromas of dark fruits, mint and menthol. Rich and deep on the palate, with spicy red fruit flavors lifted by a note of orange peel. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and juicy persistence.”
Louis Jadot Estournelles-Saint-Jacques, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru 2009 ($129.95) $79 special 3 bottles available Wine Advocate 91-93 points “The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles St. Jacques emerges from the glass with explosive dark fruit. This is an especially large scaled, big style of Gevrey, but all of the elements come together nicely in the glass. The tannins turn incisive on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029.”       Louis Jadot Lavaux Saint-Jacques, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru 2009 ($129.95) $79 special 5 bottles available Burghound 90-92 points “In contrast to the expressiveness of the Lavaut, this is quite restrained with cool red stone-infused aromas that possess a background trace of Gevrey-style earth and game. The detailed and energetic flavors possess good depth on the linear and mildly austere finish. I like the quality of the underlying material and this should age well as it has both the concentration and overall balance to do so.”
Louis Jadot Corton Greves Grand Cru 2010 ($119.95) $89 special 1 bottle available John Gilman 93+ points, Antonio Galloni 93-95 points “The 2010 Corton ‘Grèves’ from Maison Jadot is the most broad-shouldered and potentially complex of these three excellent Cortons, as it offers up a deep and very precise bouquet of red and black cherries, coffee, iron-like soil tones, woodsmoke, coriander seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite reserved, with a rock solid core of fruit, outstanding transparency, firm tannins and excellent focus and grip on the very long, very young and soil-driven finish. This is a classic young Corton that will need some patience, but which should be absolutely stellar at its apogee.”
Louis Jadot Les Suchots, Vosne-Romanee Premier Cru 2010 ($129.95) $99 special 3 bottles available John Gilman 93+ points “The 2010 Suchots is another simply outstanding bottle of Vosne in the making. The deep, sappy and very classy nose offers up scents of cassis, dark berries, Asian spices, black soil tones, game, a touch of fresh nutmeg and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with great complexity, a sappy core, a fine signature of soil, ripe tannins and exceptional length and grip on the laser-like finish…93+”
Louis Jadot Les Suchots, Vosne-Romanee Premier Cru 2011 ($129.95) $99 special 12 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 91-94 points “(15% vendange entier): Good medium red. Soil-driven aromas of raspberry, minerals, mocha, pepper and chocolate. Very concentrated and complex but youthfully backward today, showing excellent energy to the flavors of raspberry, crushed stone, spices and flowers. Finishes with captivating building sweetness. A lot of potential here.”
Louis Jadot Les Fuees, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru 2011 ($129.95) $99 special 6 bottles available Burghound 90-92 points “Moderate wood frames a very pretty nose of high-toned raspberry, cherry and subtle menthol nuances. There is plenty of the characteristic minerality to the refined and attractively vibrant medium weight flavors that possess a distinctly saline character on the clean and mildly austere finish. The tannins are firm but quite fine-grained and this should age well as the balance is impeccable.”
Louis Jadot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2009 ($179.95) $119 special 4 bottles available Wine Advocate 90-92 points “The 2009 Charmes-Chambertin shows excellent suppleness in its round fruit. This is a generous, open style with good balance, even if the wine lacks the sheer excitement of the best selections here. Bright red fruits and flowers inform the open, accessible finish. The Charmes is made from purchased wine. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027.”
Louis Jadot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2010 ($149.95) $119 special 1 bottle available John Gilman 94+ points “The 2010 Jadot Clos Vougeot is another stellar example of the vintage. The bouquet is very pure and refined, offering up scents of cassis, black cherries, venison, a touch of bonfire, fresh herb tones, cedar and an impressively complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a rock solid core, ripe, fine-grained tannins, excellent focus and balance and stunning length and grip on the youthful and utterly complete finish.”
Louis Jadot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2011 ($149.95) $119 special 12 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 92 points “Good medium red. Raspberry, redcurrant and strong spicy oak on the nose. Densely packed but a bit youthfully rough today, with raspberry and spicy oak flavors framed by sound acidity and substantial dusty tannins. Plenty of breadth and energy here but this grand cru will need at least a couple more years to harmonize in bottle.”
Louis Jadot Clos Saint-Jacques, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru 2011 ($169.95) $129 special 13 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 92-94 points “Good medium red. Red berries, coffee and mocha on the nose, with a note of blood orange emerging with air. Began large-scaled and spicy but rather inexpressive, but aeration brought greater sweetness of fruit and elegance, with a whiff of blood orange providing lift. Ultimately more expansive than the Estournelles but this wine will need at least a few years in the cellar following its release.”
Louis Jadot Echezaux Grand Cru 2011 ($179.95) $139 special 6 bottles available  Stephen Tanzer 92 points “Medium red. Vibrant aromas of red cherry, cranberry, pomegranate, spices and nutty oak. Broad and savory on the palate; in a dry style but shows good weight and texture to its flavors of tart red berries and spices. Nicely filled in, yet at the same time taut and penetrating. Finishes with ripe tannins, sneaky subtle sweetness and a lovely light touch.”
Louis Jadot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2009 ($249.95) $149 special 11 bottles available Wine Advocate 92-95 points “The 2009 Clos de la Roche comes across as big, powerful and a touch heavy-handed. This shows tons of richness and depth but lacks the sheer excitement of the estate’s finest wines. The Clos de la Roche is made from purchased wine. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034.”
Louis Jadot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2011 ($219.95) $169 special 6 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 95 points “Bright, full medium red. Knockout nose shows an almost candied character to the aromas of strawberry, cherry, dark berries, lavender, menthol and Indian spices. Dense, suave and juicy, with a distinctly silky texture to the broad flavors of red fruits, menthol and spices. Utterly seamless, suave, classically dry Chapelle with outstanding energy and definition. Still tight today but the wine’s fine-grained tannins and superb breadth and length suggest that it will make a great bottle a decade hence.”
Louis Jadot Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru 2009 ($319.95) $199 special 1 bottle available Wine Advocate 92-94 points & Burghound 92-95 points “The 2009 Grands-Echezeaux is a fresh, vibrant wine. Minerality takes center stage in this perfumed, sweet Burgundy. The clenched style calls for patience, but the wine’s potential seems quite high. The finish is vibrant and impeccably polished in every way. The Grands-Echezeaux is made from purchased wine. Not surprisingly, this is totally different in style from the Echezeaux. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034.”
Louis Jadot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2010 ($219.95) $199 special 8 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 95 points “Good full, medium red. Expressive, nuanced aromas of strawberry, raspberry, crushed stone, smoke and flowers. Glyceral yet light on its feet, with a suave, silky texture to its vibrant, savory red fruit, floral and mineral flavors. Not at all a superripe style: really perks up the palate and leaves the mouth refreshed on the very long, sweet/savory finish. This classy grand cru finishes with captivating perfumed lift.”
Louis Jadot Domaine Gagey Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru 2009 ($319.95) $199 special 3 bottles available Burghound 91-94 points “(from 90+ year old vines that are worked by horse). A ripe and notably somber but attractively spicy nose blends both red and blue berry fruit with earth nuances that can also be found on the rich, round, supple and refined medium-bodied flavors that possess moderately good, if not truly special depth and length. However, like the Clos de Vougeot, it just feels as though there is more here than is presently being reflected and again, my score reflects this optimism that it will surface in time.”
Louis Jadot Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru 2011 ($289.95) $239 special 3 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 92-95 points “Good bright medium red. Medicinal cherry liqueur, red licorice and spicy oak on the nose. Then penetrating and intense but suave, with lovely sappiness to the flavors of raspberry, cranberry and flowers. The grower Jadot buys this fruit from has recently added a vibrating sorting table, and converted entirely to new stainless steel fermentation tanks as of 2010.”
Louis Jadot Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2011 ($279.95) $249 special 12 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 93 points “Bright, deep red. Initially explosive aromas and flavors of cherry, menthol, incense and spices subsided in favor of blueberry, crushed stone and peppermint tea: very Bonnes-Mares! Wonderfully silky and scented in the mouth, displaying very good breadth but a light touch. Finishes with a broad, fine dusting of tannins and excellent length and lift. A compellingly perfumed and pure wine: am I greedy Jadot Chorey-Les-Beaune 2009 ($33.95) $21.90 special 19 bottles available
Jadot Chambertin Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru 2011 ($299.95) $249 special 6 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 94-97 points “Good medium red. Extravagantly complex nose combines raspberry, wild rose, crushed rock, clove, mocha and wild herbs. Wonderfully subtle, spherical and nuanced, communicating an almost 3-D texture to the flavors of red berries, spices, licorice, herbs and flowers. The wine’s firm spine of tannins is utterly covered by lush, fleshy fruit today. The thick, slowly rising finish washes over the palate like a wave.”
Louis Jadot Le Musigny Grand Cru 2011 ($599.95) $479 special 6 bottles available Stephen Tanzer 94-97 points & John Gilman 97 points “Medium red. Reticent but pristine aromas of cranberry, raspberry and clove oil, plus an exhilarating suggestion of candied fruit. Superconcentrated, silky and utterly seamless; wonderfully spherical wine with great fruit intensity and complexity and a pungent crushed stone element. Combines a texture of liquid velvet with an almost magically light touch. Finishes with noble tannins and great length and grip. Even sweeter on the finish than the Amoureuses. Great wine in the making.”

Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Morgon Cote du Py 2011 ($34.95) $29 special 13 bottles available Wine Advocate 92 points
“Chateau des Jacques’s 2011 Morgon Cote de Py – at only 13.4%, still the highest in alcohol of their vintage collection – leads with intimations of charred, roasted red meats and crushed stone along with sandalwood- and fruit pit-tinged, concentrated, ripe dark cherry and purple plum. Infectiously juicy, palpably dense, and finely tannic, this finishes with a luscious, dynamic, sustained exchange of stony, carnal, peaty and fruity elements…92”
Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-a-Vent Clos de Rochegres 2009 ($41.95) $37 special 15 bottles available Robert Parker 93-94 points “Intriguing suggestions of crushed stone and iodine mingle with blackberry and cherry in the nose of the Chateau des Jacques 2009 Moulin-a-Vent Clos de Rochegres, from a site that features thin, iron-rich soil over hard granite mother rock at the summit of its appellation. This has a very different shape from any of its stable mates, round and enveloping, yet at the same time exhibiting vibratory energy, and depth of marrow and mineral matter, not to mention sweet fruit. Palate-staining in its persistence, this memorable and extraordinary value should prove a monument to its vintage worth following for 8, 10 ? (who can say really how many?) years.”
