Robert Parker’s Favorite Region

Robert Parker officially announced his retirement yesterday.  We don’t need to sing his praises—everyone with a passing interest in wine knows his name and that sort of impact will be lauded for good reason.  To celebrate Parker and wish him well, we wanted to feature his favorite region, which he nearly single-handedly championed into its current place in the international pecking order: Chateauneuf du Pape.

Faiveley’s Rising Star in Burgundy

The best time to buy Burgundy is often after a generational change at an underperforming estate.  The wines often dramatically jump in quality and the world takes a while to catch on to the change.  Prices stay reasonable, the wines aren’t tightly allocated…until all of a sudden both of those things aren’t true.  Then you wish you’d bought more.
