Bibbiano’s 95 Point Top Chianti Gran Selezione

Starting with the 2010 vintage, growers in Chianti adopted a new classification, Gran Selezione. It stands a tier above Chianti Classico Riserva and intends to present the terroir of Tuscany’s lauded Chianti vineyards in its essence—and from what we’ve tasted, the new designation is working.  From Felsina’s Colonia to Castello di Ama’s Gran Selezione to this new offering from Tenuta Bibbiano, it’s becoming clear that the best wines in the region carry the designation.

Antonio Galloni on 2017 DRC

“2017 is an intriguing vintage, to say the least” – Antonio Galloni

We were excited to see Antonio Galloni’s newly published reviews of the 2017 wines from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.  He’s obviously one of the most respected wine critics in the world and, more importantly, willing to have opinions that are a little different than some other critics.  Case in point? His take that the Romanée St Vivant was the highlight of the range.

Gaja Sperss

Gaja is one of the most respected names in the world of wine, and the bottles bearing his name remain Barbaresco’s most treasured and collectible.  However this weekend only, we’re offering subscriber special pricing on one of his rare bottlings from Barbaresco’s even more famous neighbor, Barolo.  The region needs no introduction, however this wine perhaps does.  Unlike many other ultra-premium Barolos, Gaja’s 2014 Sperss is already drinking beautifully, even in its relative youth.

2014 is a vintage that is often overlooked thanks to the legendary vintages that immediately preceded and proceeded it.

Vincent Paris Subscriber Special

Vincent Paris is one of the top winemakers in the Northern Rhone.  Working primarily in Cornas, the wines have everything we love about Northern Rhone Syrah packaged in a clean, direct style.  He has the benefit of incredible vineyard material, too, as he now works the vineyards his uncle, Robert Michel, made famous.  Stylistically, there’s definitely some of that old-school Michel rusticity, but overall, his wines are far more polished and in line with what we think of as good modern Cornas.
