2017 G.D. Vajra & Luigi Baudana Barolo

First Offer!

We’re excited to present one of the most anticipated offerings of the year—G.D. Vajra’s 2017 Barolos. Across all three crus (plus the Luigi Baudana wines, which Vajra owns and makes), these are some of the best wines made in Barolo, at any price. That they’re all under $80 a bottle seems inconceivable to us—especially compared to their peer group in the Piedmont.

The World’s Finest Sweet Wine?

Domaine Huet’s Rare Cuvée Constance

Domaine Huet makes some of the most undervalued great wine in the world. Take any metric you’d use to adjudicate greatness (complexity, age-worthiness, terroir, aromatic intensity, world-wide praise, etc) and Huet’s Vovray is on the list, at prices far below almost anything else in the world of wine. They own some of the greatest vineyards in the Loire and make sure that they reach their potential year in and out.

And New Allocations of Top Wines

“2016 is a classic vintage of impeccable balance. Spring brought cool temperatures with sparse and well-distributed rains that continued through May. Summer was evenly hot and dry without extreme spikes, and optimal diurnal temperatures, allowing for the grapes to achieve a balanced maturation. The first weeks of autumn were warm during the day and cool through the nights, with a significant rainfall in mid-September.

“The 2008 Dom Pérignon is fabulous, but quite remarkably, it was even more open when I tasted it a year ago. Bright, focused and crystalline in its precision, the 2008 is going to need a number of years before it is at its best. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and white pepper give the 2008 its chiseled, bright profile.
