Seghesio Defiant

At Half Off the Winery’s Price

Seghesio’s “Defiant” is a powerful red blend that’s a big, rich wine perfect for drinking in the winter and fall. It tastes better when it’s half off what the winery charges for the wine (and fully $16/btl off the lowest wine-searcher price.  A blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet and a bunch of other minor grapes, this is a wine with beautiful texture, a full body and silky tannins.

Vinopolis Cameron Special – 11-7-19

Cameron Single Vineyard Subscriber Sale

Sale Ended 11/9/2019

What’s the most anticipated Willamette Valley release in our shop? Cameron Winery’s single vineyard bottlings. This is one of our favorite offers of the year, and for good reason—Cameron makes some of the most profound wines in the Willamette Valley and their single vineyard Pinot and Chardonnay are the pinnacle of their yearly releases.  These 2017s are among the best we’ve tasted ever from Cameron and winemaker/owner John Paul is (somehow) more excited than we’ve seen him in years.  The best part? We’re putting these on pre-arrival sale through the close of business on Saturday.

If you’re a longtime fan of Cameron, this is a vintage to stock up on.  It’s classical in all the best ways—more elegant and detailed than the trio of hot vintages that preceded it, but with more depth and complexity than a year like ’13.

Vinopolis Champagne Extravaganza

(Part Two)

We’re continuing our Champagne extravaganza by highlighting two more of our favorite producers, Gimonnet and Geoffroy.  Alphabetical proximity aside, these are two fantastic producers with very different styles.  Gimonnet is known for mineral, crystalline Blanc de Blancs and Geoffroy a richer, more bombastic approach.  Both are fantastic and making the best bubbles in the history of their houses.
Gimonnet
The Gimonnet wines are pure, classical Blanc de Blancs Champagne.  98% of their vines are Chardonnay and Didier Gimonnet’s devotion to cool, minerally Champange made from the grape borders on monastic.

The Truly Rare “Rare” Rose

Piper-Heidsieck is best known for their red and gold labeled entry level wine, a bottling that always over delivers for its very modest price.  Among true aficionados of Champagne, though, they’re best known for their top end “Rare” bottlings—wines with incredible complexity, depth and nuance that are among the most coveted in Champagne.  We’ve secured some incredible prices on the 2007 Rare Rosé—the hardest to find wine in the P-H stable.
