New February Clearance Sale Wine

When discussing the wines of the Cote de Nuits it is hard not to mention Domaine Faiveley. Founded in 1825, with its seventh generation now at the helm, Faiveley carries a long-standing tradition of winemaking in the Cote d’Or. But the domaine also believes in progress: pre-sorting of all grapes, long low-temperature fermentations, barrel ageing in the family’s 19th century vaulted cellar. From red and white regional Bourgogne and village-level cuvees, to the estate-farmed 62 acres of Premier Cru and 25 acres of Grand Cru, Faiveley makes wine like a small, quality-driven producer.

The Best Deal in High End Burgundy?

New February Clearance Sale Wines

From Domaine des Lambrays

Clos de la Roche, Clos St. Denis, Clos de Tart, Clos des Lambrays—this quartet represents the heralded set of Grand Crus in Morey-St. Denis.   The main difference between the first three and the Clos des Lambray? Price.  All of the other major Grand Crus in Morey are easily $250-$500 per bottle for new releases and, if you’ve got the money, well worth it. Lambrays, on the other hand, is every bit the wine of the more heralded names, especially over the last decade or so, and costs less than half of its neighbors (2014 Clos de Tart is spectacular, but $438, for reference).

January Clearance Sale

The 31st is fast approaching – stock up on these bargains while they last!Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque – Fleur de Champagne Brut Millesime, Champagne 2008 750ML ($149.95) $99 special
Decanter 93 points “Perrier Jouët Belle Epoque 2008 reminds me somewhat of the grace of the exceptional 1995, Cellarmaster Hervé Deschamps’ first solo vintage and still one of his best. Though the two vintages 13 years apart share the same grace and class, the 2008 is more mineral, reflecting a quite sunless summer season. Only the return of warmer weather at the start of September imbued the vintage with a freshness of great Chardonnay in tune with the subtly restrained power of Pinot Noir and a soupçon of rounded Meunier – that final little touch making the wine more pleasurable to drink soon, unlike other wines from the Champagne 2008 vintage, which need a lot more time.

Caprili at the Best Price in the Country

Caprili has become one of the most notable names when talking about Brunello producers whose star is on the rise.  Founded relatively recently for a Tuscan estate, in 1965, the small family producer has continued to turn out some of the most exciting, traditionally styled wines from the Brunello appellation, though only recently has their name become a buzzword in industry circles.

Stylistically, these are powerful wines, with rich full textures and intense aromatics.  Fermentations here are long and in stainless, with grapes spending 25+ days on the skins before going into large format, old Slavonian oak barrels for a full three years before botting.
