The Perfect Wines For Spring?

Agathe Bursin’s Alsatian Delights

Agathe Bursin is a wonderful producer of Alsatian wines, with a strong following in France, but somehow remains slightly unknown in the US.  Her production sells out before it’s even bottled—mostly to private clients in Europe, but a little makes its way over to our shores.  Yet when it gets here, sometimes it gets overlooked, because she makes wines that are useful at the table (and are priced as such) instead of being ‘trophy’ wines for collectors to fight over.

A Trio of 2015 Felsina

To Buy, Drink, Hold and Buy Some More

Felsina is a top-three Chianti producer and a top-ten estate in Tuscany as a whole.  The value out of their wines, from top to bottom, is astounding.  We’re big fans of their top two wines, Rancia and Fontelloro, but their lower tier wines offer great value.  We already sold through the first tranche of the basic Chianti and now have their Chianti Riserva arriving as well—a serious value play that’s a step up from the entry level but still attractively priced.

Vieux Telegraphe is one of the top three or four estates in the Southern Rhone, producing both red and white wines of complexity, longevity and power.  The 2015 red and 2016 white are some of the best wines the estate has made in their respective categories and we’ve dropped the price on them for the rest of this month.
