Founded in 1993 by Amy Wesselman and David Autrey, Westrey is a core producer in the Dundee Hills. They are farmers, first and foremost. They’re not bombastic enough to chase points or the ephemeral fame of trendy styles. Instead, they live their time-tested values.

Best known for its mineral-driven and cellar-friendly rosé, the reds, though, are criminally underrated and underappreciated, especially to lovers of bold, full-throttle wines. They represent the pinnacle of Mourvèdre-based blends that could convince even the most die-hard Rhone lovers to expand their horizons, if only one could manage to convince them to try. That might be the hardest part, but we’ve greased the wheel, so to speak, by placing these wines on our three-day sale, starting now.

 

 
We’ve said for many years that Von Winning makes some of the most profound white wines on the planet. The combination of old and incredible vineyard sites, meticulous winemaking and a commitment to producing only the finest wines yields exactly what you’d hope: white wines of depth and complexity, with grace and mineral power. The Rieslings are dry, offering floral and mineral flavors that are both intense and furtive.
 
But Riesling isn’t the only focus. Von Winning is one of the preeminent producers of Sauvignon Blanc in the world. Germany is not where you’d expect to find great Sauvignon Blanc, but the wines will make a believer out of anyone.

Fontodi is one of Tuscany’s most respected estates and produces some of the finest wines in the world. The wines are effortlessly delicious and harmonious, the gift of such high-quality base material.
 
The estate’s vineyards are planted along a high elevation hill of Conca d’Oro (“the golden shell,” named for its shape) and its south-facing amphitheater. Here, the high elevation and shape of the land offer long and warm summer days and a wild diurnal temperature swing. The calcareous clay and schist soils are optimal for producing ripe yet balanced Sangiovese.
