Theorized to have been established for viticulture by the Knights Templar, the Commanderie de Peyrassol estate has been producing wine since their first recorded harvest in 1256. The current iteration however was founded much more recently, with Francois Rigord undergoing extensive renovations to the estate in 1970.
The vines planted reflect Provencal wine as a whole, including Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Tibouren (an ancient variety native to the area). Now certified organic and focused on old vines, Peyrassol is at the top of their game. The winery hosts an art museum and sculpture park established by the current owners, the Austruy family, which seems to center around the theme of the Mediterranean sun and the Provencal wilderness—a theme that seems inspired by (and pairs well with) their wines.
Their rosé portfolio encapsulates the essence of the region, featuring both highly age-worthy and collectable examples that are supremely easy-drinking. In our three-day sale, we’re offering two single-vineyard cuvées in multiple vintages: the Chateau and Le Clos.
The Château is named for the Château Peyrassol vineyard at the heart of the estate. Surrounded by oak, scrubland, the Mediterranean Sea, and the river canyon Verdon Gorge with its placid blue-green waters, this is a dreamy landscape with stunning vistas. The rosé matches the striking beauty of its home, with its tangy freshness, gentle red berry flavors, and stony minerality. The wine is assembled from parcels of old vines within the vineyard.
The elite Le Clos bottling centers the native Tibouren grape. Its near colorless appearance hides a deep minerality, a bright saline quality, and an intense red fruit and citrus character. This cult bottling is the winery’s prestige cuvée sourced from a walled-in vineyard composed of ancient vines grown on clay and limestone soils.
The Peyrassol rosés are especially elegant and nuanced, with excellent minerality and poise. These customer favorites offer some of the finest quality for the money up and down the lineup.

Peyrassol ‘Château Peyrassol’ Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2018 6L Was $319, Displayed Price: $269, that’s $255.55 at 5% off and $242.10 at 10% off, 2 six-liter bottles in stock now, ***In-store pick up only, shipping not available
“Tangy, with orange zest details underpinning the cherry and white raspberry flavors, leading to wet stone, heather and white pepper notes on the zesty finish. Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Rolle and Syrah.” -Wine Spectator
Importer note “This is the elite cuvée of the estate relying as it does on grapes harvested from the oldest vines of the domaine (35 years and older). Principally composed of Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah, the “Chateau” bottling also sees the addition, from time-to-time of Tibouren, the ancient and regal Provencale grape. This Rosé is produced via the “direct press” method and has a long cuvaison designed to produce a wine of character and concentration. Vinified in stainless steel and bottled in late winter – early spring, production is quite limited.”

Peyrassol ‘Château Peyrassol’ Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2019 1.5L Was $79, Displayed Price: $59, that’s $56.05 at 5% off and $53.10 at 10% off, 1 magnum in stock now
Joe Czerwinski-Wine Advocate 91 points “A blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, Ugni Blanc and Rolle from estate fruit, Peyrassol’s 2019 Cotes de Provence Rose is a strident, intense rosé that demands attention. It hints at passion fruit at first, then broadens out to include notes of pink grapefruit, red currant and even a touch of peach, but it always retains a sinewy structure and bright acidity. It’s medium-bodied, with a silky texture in the mouth and a long, mouthwatering finish. Yum!”
VinePair Rose of the Year 2020 “A delightful reminder of what makes Provence rosé so popular, this wine ticks all the boxes. The nose is delicate but serves layers of white flowers, red fruit, and a sprinkle of savory spices. The palate is both bold and refreshing, with tangy fruit cut by a piercing jolt of acidity. Add a hint of wet rocks and a dusting of white pepper to the equation, and you’ve got yourself the best rosé of 2019. If you can’t find this exact bottle, the producer’s entire range is equally impressive and should be sought out. Average price: $35.”

Josh Raynolds-Vinous 92 points “Translucent orange. White peach, strawberry, mango and a touch of honey on the highly fragrant nose. Offers fleshy red berry and pith fruit flavors, along with hints of lavender, fennel and orange zest. Closes long, smooth and gently spicy, with the peach and floral notes repeating.”
This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!
Peyrassol ‘Château Peyrassol’ Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $41.90, that’s $39.81 at 5% off and $37.71 at 10% off, 24 bottles in stock now
Peyrassol ‘Château Peyrassol’ Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2022 1.5L Was $99, Displayed Price: $89, that’s $84.55 at 5% off and $80.10 at 10% off, 5 magnums in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 92 points “The 2022 Rosé opens with a savory bouquet, blending dusty dried flowers with ginger, cardamom and a touch of dried peaches. This washes across the palate with opulent textures while remaining remarkably fresh and light on its feet. Sweet spices and ripe orchard fruit swirl throughout. The Château Peyrassol cleans up beautiful, pure, fresh and perfumed. It ends on a salty flourish.”
Importer note “Very pale, lychee pink in color. The nose is fine and elegant. Complex, releasing white fleshed fruit and citrus fruits aromas, along with white floral notes. The palate is straightforward and clean. Fine and silky, it is soft, delicate and lively. The freshness of the finish is balanced with a subtle hint of saltiness.”
This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!
Peyrassol ‘Le Clos’ Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2019 1.5L Was $129, Displayed Price: $99, that’s $94.05 at 5% off and $89.10 at 10% off, 7 magnums in stock now
Joe Czerwinski-Wine Advocate 93 points “Predominantly Tibouren, with the balance of the blend being Grenache and Rolle, Peyrassol’s super pale 2019 Cotes de Provence Rose Le Clos Peyrassol offers up scents of crushed stone, garrigue, white peach and lime, all tinged with tart red berries. It’s medium-bodied on the palate, with a silky-wet stone feel and a lingering finish that seems to build in red fruit intensity while remaining citrusy and refreshing at the same time. One of the best wines in this year’s tasting, this is a limited-production cuvée from a walled vineyard located on the estate.”

Peyrassol ‘Le Clos’ Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $69, that’s $65.55 at 5% off and $62.10 at 10% off, 18 bottles in stock now
Peyrassol ‘Le Clos’ Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2021 1.5L Was $119, Displayed Price: $99, that’s $94.05 at 5% off and $89.10 at 10% off, 14 magnums in stock now
Josh Raynolds-Vinous 94 points “Vivid onion skin color. A highly perfumed and complex bouquet evokes fresh citrus and pit fruits, strawberry and pungent flowers, along with building mineral and succulent herb elements. Shows excellent clarity and depth to its juicy red fruit, nectarine and mango flavors, which are sweetened by a background of vanilla note. Finishes impressively long and silky, with the mineral and floral note resonating.”
Wine & Spirits 93 points “In 2021, Petrassol credits the micro climate at their estate for the late budbreak that evaded late-April frosts, also escaping a fire (merci, le mistral), a hailstorm in nearby Pignan *blocked by hills) and flooding. More than a vintage survivor, this wine is chewy and immediately pleasurable; it captured our panel’s attention in the sweetness of its fruit. Its substantial weight would work well with a range of dishes, or stand as a meal on its own, letting it saturate your mouth, cherry-blossom accents peeking out around the edges of the finish. Its complexity is subtle but present, like a carefully-measured craft cocktail.”
Peyrassol ‘Le Clos’ Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $77, that’s $73.15 at 5% off and $69.30 at 10% off, 9 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 93 points “The 2022 Rosé Le Clos Peyrassol keeps the glass in constant motion. Swirling unlocks depths of dried apricot and peaches, complicated by sweet smoke and mint. This is deeply textural, creamy yet lively all the same, with tantalizing acidity and vividly ripe orchard fruits perfectly contrasted by ginger. Cooling and poised, yet still juicy on the palate, the 2022 finishes with admirable length, leaving green melon and inner florals to fade slowly.”
On Sale Now & Arriving in June:
Peyrassol ‘Château Peyrassol’ Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $39, that’s $37.05 at 5% off and $35.10 at 10% off, 12 bottles available
Importer note “Varietal Composition: 55% Cinsault, 25% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre, 5% Tibouren. Very pale lynchee pink color. The nose is fine and elegant. Complex, it releases long aromas of white-fleshed fruit, citrus fruit and white flowers. The palate is straightforward and clean: fine and silky, it is at once tender, delicate and lively. The freshness of the finish underpins the measured volume and a touch of salinity harmonises the whole.”
Peyrassol ‘Château Peyrassol’ Rouge, Côtes de Provence 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $51.90, that’s $49.31 at 5% off and $46.71 at 10% off, 12 bottles available
Importer note “60% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Grenache. With its purple tints, this wine gives off notes of ripe Syrah from the first nose: licorice, pepper, and peony then give way to a beautiful procession of small red and black fruits. The palate is beautifully mature, supported by velvety tannins and smooth acidity. Intense flavors of red fruit, blackberry, and spices caress the palate until the round, fleshy finish. A vintage of fine balance and noble elegance.”

Korrell
Korrell is a rising star Nahe producer. The winery dates back to 1832, but it’s only with young Martin taking over the cellar that the family has attained their current standing.
The best vineyard that Korrell owns (and the backbone for all their Rieslings) is a monopole site called, appropriately, “Paradis.” Paradis is a limestone-heavy site (a rarity, much like Keller’s Kirschspiel GG), with shallow soils and privileged exposition—in short, everything you could ask of a Riesling vineyard, especially to produce dry wines.
The revitalization of the site, combined with Martin’s work in the cellar, has vaulted Korrell into the top tier of producers both in the Nahe and across Germany. We’re proud to be the first and only shop in the USA to offer these wines.
In Stock Now:
Weingut Korrell Paradies Riesling Trocken, Nahe 2017 3L Was $179, Now $149, 3 double-magnums available
Grapelive 94 points “The radiant and graceful Korrell Paradies Trocken leads with expressive pure apple tones. [It] impresses for its elegance and subtle character. It’s a wine of great poise and delicacy, especially admirable for such a young Riesling. The monopole estate vineyard, Paradies, is the oldest single site Korrell has and is the flagship wine from winemaker Martin Korrell. It comes from his family’s vines that are set on limestone and clay soils in Bad Kreuznach area of the Nahe region. The Paradies Riesling Trocken is a gorgeous white of depth and precise winemaking that takes advantage of this unique site in the Nahe…”
Stuart Pigott (Suckling) 94 points “Very clean and fresh, but behind the effusive, fruit-salad character that makes this so seductive, there is a lot of structure and the finish keeps pumping out the fruit and chalky minerality. Drink or hold.”
