JJ Prum: Apex Mosel Riesling 9-4-24

“Few estates in the world can claim to have maintained the highest quality standards uninterrupted for half a century and more. Joh Jos Prum… is one estate that can.”

Apex Mosel Riesling

On Sale Now!

Manfred and Katarina Prüm make some of the finest and most sought-after wines of the middle-Mosel. These reference-point Mosel Rieslings are some of the most profound and age-worthy white wines in the world. No other producer in the middle Mosel is as respected or collectible. These white wines have near-unparalleled consistency in aging worldwide.

The Prüm wines are high-wire acts of tension between fruit and intense minerality. By some subtle alchemy, the wines spring forth from the parcels of mostly old, ungrafted vines through spontaneous fermentation and a dash of magic in the cellar.

Coralia Pignatelli della Leonessa, Owner

“This historic winery is known for producing some of the most traditionally-crafted, age-worthy wines in the appellation. To illustrate this, they have also kept back an extensive library of older vintages (…) Proprietress Principessa Coralia Pignatelli della Leonessa and her husband first saw the estate in 1967 and then bought the property in 1968. At that time, there was just the 13th century farmhouse and outbuildings along with one hectare of vineyards.

Bruna Grimaldi Sale 9-3-24

Bruna Grimaldi

Your Three-Day Discount Starts Now

We love talking about the glory days of Barolo. Not the region, but back when you could find great Barolos for under $50. Now, it’s not uncommon to see Langhe varietal wines to stretch for that goal. Yikes. Fortunately, there is one estate has not allowed inflation to impact their pricing or quality, one we stock up on every year: Bruna Grimaldi.

It’s unlikely to surprise any of our long-time subscribers when we write that the estate crafts classic, well-structured and delicious wines that outperform their modest price tags. The estate dates back to the 1990s, when Bruna (along with her husband, Franco Fiorino) began bottling her own wine. This decision came after decades selling off their exceptional fruit as bulk wine before eventually selling a handful of cases locally.

Produttori del Barbaresco: 2019s On Sale Now! 9-1024

The legacy of Produttori del Barbaresco is the legacy of an appellation and a fiercely visionary line of individuals that have striven to carve its name into the annals of Italy’s finest wines. Until the time of the late 19th century, the vineyard holdings surrounding the town of Barbaresco were exclusively being maintained as a supply of additional grapes for the wineries of the neighboring Barolo appellation. This was until an enterprising educator and viticulturist named Domizio Cavazza arrived with a mind to change the perception of Barbaresco forever. After being rebutted by the governing authorities on the idea of expanding the Barolo appellation to formally include the vineyards of Barbaresco, he took matters into his own hands. With the partnership of 9 Barbaresco landowners in 1894 he formed a cooperative that bottled Barbaresco on its own and with a quality that rapidly won the hearts and attention of local and foreign wine drinkers.
