Sparkling:

Is there better bang-for-the-buck Champagne-method sparklers made in the Willamette Valley?
Goodfellow Family Cellars Willamette Valley Extra Brut NV 750ml Displayed Price: $49, that’s $46.55 at 5% off and $44.10 at 10% off, 33 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“Comprised of 67% Chardonnay and 33% Pinot Noir, from vintages 2019-2022. Elevage is a range of larger format French oak and Acacia puncheons. This is an early disgorgement, but the wine contains a significant percentage of reserve wines aged 30 months or longer on lees in puncheon. My favorite things about this wine are its refinement, layering, and integration. It is both light bodied and ethereal, but with excellent texture and suppleness. It moves through a range of aromatics, stony, citrusy, with touches of yeast esters, a bit of stoniness, it’s both brightly fresh and yet texturally mature. Light in the mouth at 12.2%, it covers mineral notes, mandarins, and pastry dough. The polished elegance and refinement is balanced by a lovely freshness in the acidity. The bottle disappears quite quickly.”

One for the cellar, inspired by the greatest names in Grower Champagne
Goodfellow Family Cellars Durant Vineyard Blanc de Blancs, Dundee Hills NV 750ml Displayed Price: $56, that’s $53.20 at 5% off and $50.40 at 10% off, 18 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“100% Chardonnay from volcanic clay soils. Durant is East facing, and the bulk of this wine is from older vines (1993) planted at the foot of the hill. Cool air pools in the block, keeping acids high and slowing sugar accumulation as the fruit ripens leading to an optimal situation for sparkling wine. Elevage is all in larger barrels from vintages 2019 and 2021 (55%/45%), tirage 4/2022. Aromatically, this wine jumps from the glass. Lemon curd, wheat fields, pastry dough, toasted hazelnuts, apple pie, and grilled bread. In the palate it is tranquil and smooth, staying with citrus notes and river stones. Lots of suppleness and movement, and a layer of density up from the Willamette Valley, that all flows down the palate into a lovely balanced finish. While this has two years in bottle on the lees, it also has significant amounts of reserve wines that spent more than 30 months on the lees in puncheon, so the development is exceptional for this age.”

Fun and fizzy, this is easy-drinking at its finest
The Eyrie Vineyards ‘Spark’ Sparkling Rosé, Willamette Valley NV 750ml Displayed Price: $19, that’s $18.05 at 5% off and $17.10 at 10% off, 22 bottles in stock now
“The NV Spark is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir, 37% Chasselas Doré and 8% Pinot Blanc, from 31-year-old vines. It is an “ultra brut,” although this particular bottling is made using forced carbonation instead of méthode Champenois. Medium to deep cherry-pink in color, it has aromas of cantaloupe, strawberries, raspberries and lemon peel with notes of stone and toast. The palate is dry with citrus and red berry flavors, spritely mousse and a refreshing, mineral-driven finish.” -Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate

Paul Gregutt 92 points
“This is only the third intentional (non saignée) rosé ever made at Brick House I am told. It comes from young vines that were replanted after phylloxera began taking out the older Pinot. This was sourced from a five year old Pommard block. Don’t let the light color fool you, this is a big, flavorful, fruit-powered rosé, rich with sweet bubblegum, peach, papaya and tropical fruit flavors.”

Chardonnay & Other Whites:

Some of the finest grapes in the Valley, crafted into some of the finest white wine we offer.
Arterberry Maresh Maresh Vineyard Chardonnay, Dundee Hills 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $72, that’s $68.40 at 5% off and $64.80 at 10% off, 21 bottles in stock now
Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 96 points
“The 2021 Chardonnay Maresh Vineyard comes from Wente vines planted in 1983 and was matured in 20% Damy barrels for nine months before finishing in stainless steel. The nose is alluringly spicy, opening from flint and roasted almonds to an intense core of savory yellow peach and beeswax. The palate is satiny and unctuous with ripe fruit, floral perfume and flinty streaks. Despite its luxurious texture and flavor, it maintains its shimmery acidity and boasts a long, dynamic finish. It’s a special expression that offers pleasurable generosity and precision.”

This will knock your socks off; Tyson Crowley makes energetic Chards and this is his top bottling of the vintage

Winery Note
“Aromas of Asian pear, lemon chiffon, honeysuckle, mint and a trace of eucalyptus. The palate has the typical Four Winds high tension and firm acidity combined with mineral to complete its austerity. Richness from barrel enters mid palate and merges with silky texture and creamy fruit to a complete high energy finish. Beeswax lingers as does lime-pie. Wente & Draper clones. Native fermentation.”

Championship Bottle “Lost Coastlines” Fir Crest Vineyard Pinot Noir, Yamhill-Carlton District 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $33, that’s $31.35 at 5% off and $29.70 at 10% off, 31 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“Lost Coastlines hails from Fir Crest Vineyard, a site that we believe to be the most interesting in all of the prestigious Yamhill-Carlton AVA, but whose reputation hadn’t yet caught up to its quality. Robert Mosier’s site takes the marine-sedimentary soils that the appellation is known for, but its proximity to the coast makes it significantly cooler than most of the more famous vineyards nearby. That means a wine with a intriguing dialectic between dark color and lively acidity, between red and black fruits, all laced with a distinct edge of rosemary and thyme. It’s a structured bottle that’s built for the cellar—perhaps less playful than our other reds, but with a tremendously compelling personality. Fir Crest responds beautifully to whole-cluster fermentation, and we avoided masking any of the site’s personality with new oak. 120 cases were produced, though we are earmarking a chunk of those for our library already.”

Winery Note
“2022 was a return to cool vintage for Oregon, and the wines have benefitted greatly. Entre Nous has a touch of new oak that we just can’t get enough of, and it frames a palate of crunchy red flesh apple light maple candy that lead to a long umami finish.”

Josh Raynolds-Vinous 94 points “Limpid ruby. Highly expressive aromas of raspberry liqueur, cherry cola, baking spices and succulent herbs show fine definition and acquire a suave floral note as the wine opens up. Silky and expansive on the palate, offering appealingly sweet red and blue fruit, candied lavender and exotic spice flavors that tighten up on the back half. Finishes sappy and impressively long, with strong red fruit thrust, repeating florality and gently gripping tannins.”

Fun & fanciful, this wine will inspire
Dominio IV The Imagination Series ‘Ocean Meets Forest’ Estate Pinot Noir, Oregon 2020 750ml Displayed Price: $29, that’s $27.55 at 5% off and $26.10 at 10% off, 24 bottles in stock now
Patrick Reuter, Owner/Winemaker note
“During the summer the Pacific Ocean and the Willamette Valley engage in a daily conversation regarding the weather. Pinot Noir records the dialog in its berries. In the morning, the clouds of the sea creeps into the valley’s forests and vineyards engaging in light chit-chat. The mid-day Sun usually dominates the conversation. By the evening, casual banter has changed to the wind’s whipping whorl of discussion that thickens the skin of the fruit and leaves behind the freshness of acid. Clouds, sun, and wind have a distinct and wonderful influence on the wines of the Willamette Valley, enjoy your own conversation over a glass of “Ocean Meets Forest”.”

Eric Guido-Vinous 93+ points
“The remarkably pretty 2021 Pinot Noir Temperance Hill slowly evolves in the glass, wafting up with a bouquet of dried strawberries, cedar, crushed stone, and dusty rose. This is silky smooth with medium-bodied weight and crisp red fruits cascading across a core of brisk acidity. Tactile mineral tones mingle with a gentle layer of fine tannins as the 2021 finishes a spicy citrus twang, long and staining yet still remarkably fresh. 100% whole cluster.”

Hundred Suns Sequitur Vineyard Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $61.90, that’s $58.81 at 5% off and $55.71 at 10% off, 26 bottles in stock now
Jeremy Young-International Wine Report 96 points
“Sporting a glistening medium to dark ruby core and a neon pink rim in the glass, and saw 35% whole cluster used during fermentation and then aged for 11 months in French oak. It’s a richer and more serious Pinot Noir from Hundred Suns that gifts notes of boysenberry, blue plum skin, hoisin sauce, Asian spices, tilled earth, and black tea. Well-balanced, with no rough edges, it seems nothing is out of place in this Pinot. I loved the blue and black fruit finish and the peppery note you get on the front palate. Highly recommended.”

Oh yes, and the Pinot Noir is even better!

Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 94-96 points
“I tasted the 2021 Sequitur Pinot Noir about three weeks before it was bottled. Medium ruby-purple in color, it has intense aromas of pomegranate, rhubarb and even boysenberry, plus accents of garrigue, conifer and orange peel. The medium-bodied palate is chalky and refreshing with addicting bursts of juicy acidity, generous, nuanced fruit and a very long, layered finish.”
