Diebolt-Vallois
The Côte des Blancs region in Champagne is home to some of the most sought after and exquisite sparkling wine in the world. Think Salon, Krug’s iconic Clos du Mesnil, and Pierre Peter’s Les Chetillons. This is the home of the IT Champagnes.
In the Cote des Blancs village of Cramant, Diebolt-Vallois is a star player, in part due to the quality of their vineyard holdings here and in nearby Epernay. The estate has focused on Blanc de Blancs since their founding in 1959. These are very classic representations of Champagne, but remarkably well-priced when compared to, well, Salon, Krug, Pierre Peters, of course, but also better-known growers such as Pierre Gimonnet and Doyard. The house style is characterized by crisp minerality, food friendly acidity and refreshing citrus and orchard fruit profile.
This is a staff favorite and an incredible value across the board. You’ve been warned.

Winery Note “Pure Chardonnay made from our oldest plots located in Cramant Grand Cru terroir. This Blanc de Blancs, 100% 2008 harvest, is vinified in oak barrels without malolactic fermentation nor filtration. This bottling in 2009 is prolonged by an ageing on lees during 13 years in our cellars… The Champagne Fleur de Passion is the jewel in the range from the house of Diebolt-Vallois. It is only made in the very best years. This wine is created entirely in barrel, following the major principles of the first wine Jacques Diebolt made together with his grandfather in 1953. Fleur de Passion is a precious and delicate champagne, it is complex, intense and long on the palate. 100% chardonnay.”

Eric Guido-Vinous 92 points “The 2022 Rosé opens with a savory bouquet, blending dusty dried flowers with ginger, cardamom and a touch of dried peaches. This washes across the palate with opulent textures while remaining remarkably fresh and light on its feet. Sweet spices and ripe orchard fruit swirl throughout. The Château Peyrassol cleans up beautiful, pure, fresh and perfumed. It ends on a salty flourish.”

Peyrassol Le Clos Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2019 1.5L Was $129, Now $99, 5 magnums in stock now
Joe Czerwinski-Wine Advocate 93 points “Predominantly Tibouren, with the balance of the blend being Grenache and Rolle, Peyrassol’s super pale 2019 Cotes de Provence Rose Le Clos Peyrassol offers up scents of crushed stone, garrigue, white peach and lime, all tinged with tart red berries. It’s medium-bodied on the palate, with a silky-wet stone feel and a lingering finish that seems to build in red fruit intensity while remaining citrusy and refreshing at the same time. One of the best wines in this year’s tasting, this is a limited-production cuvée from a walled vineyard located on the estate.”

Josh Raynolds-Vinous 94 points “Vivid onion skin color. A highly perfumed and complex bouquet evokes fresh citrus and pit fruits, strawberry and pungent flowers, along with building mineral and succulent herb elements. Shows excellent clarity and depth to its juicy red fruit, nectarine and mango flavors, which are sweetened by a background of vanilla note. Finishes impressively long and silky, with the mineral and floral note resonating.”

Peyrassol Le Clos Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2022 750ml Was $77, Now $71.90, 7 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 93 points “The 2022 Rosé Le Clos Peyrassol keeps the glass in constant motion. Swirling unlocks depths of dried apricot and peaches, complicated by sweet smoke and mint. This is deeply textural, creamy yet lively all the same, with tantalizing acidity and vividly ripe orchard fruits perfectly contrasted by ginger. Cooling and poised, yet still juicy on the palate, the 2022 finishes with admirable length, leaving green melon and inner florals to fade slowly.”
