Cascina delle Rose
The Rizzolio family purchased Cascina delle Rose in the 1940s, but didn’t produce commercial releases until the 1980s when the vines were mature enough to offer consist and complex crops. Today, the estate is led by Giovanna Rizzolio alongside her partner, Italo Sobrino, and their sons, Riccardo and Davide.
Although Cascina delle Rose flies under the radar for most, those that know or have visited the estate buy the wines in bulk. These are charming and soulful wines that are easy to love, drink, and enjoy. To be sure, the Cascina delle Rose wines aren’t for everyone, especially if power is your primary concern. The winemaking here is extremely traditional, and the vineyard management fully organic. These wines strive for beauty and achieve it without sacrificing their drinkability and the ability to satisfy. They offer soaring aromatics and beautiful textures—and are surprisingly age-worthy for such ethereal bottlings.
The winery crafts three single-vineyard Barbaresco expressions: Tre Stelle, Rio Sordo, and newcomer Marcorino. The Tre Stelle is the signature of the estate with its calcareous soils. They are the only winery to bottle this as a cru. The wine offers more immediacy than its sibling with a limestone-imparted elegance. The Rio Sordo tends towards shyness at first, but give this bottling a bit longer in the cellar and it will reward with class and precision. The estate added Marcorino to their line up in 2018, with the first release debuting last year. The vineyard was planted in 1944 on marine soils of clay and limestone marl, sandstone, and silt. The results are complex, elegance, and full of finesse.
Cascina delle Rose has excelled in recent vintages, producing some of the best wines in the history of the winery. Lovers of boutique Piedmontese producers take note—this is a true family estate doing all the right things. Stock up now for the best value during our three-day sale!

Cascina delle Rose ‘Mun Cru’ Langhe Bianco 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $48, that’s $45.60 at 5% off and $43.20 at 10% off, 10 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Arneis; 100% stainless steel. Mun Crü – in Piedmontese dialect, literally “raw bricks” – is the name that has always been used to indicate this particular area of Neive. As the production is very limited, it is always offered first to our historical customers. Sensory notes: Bright and intense yellow, with golden reflections. Elegant floral notes, jasmine, hints of sweet citrus peel, white peach and acacia honey. Intriguing structure, full of flavors. Round and balanced, savory and with a long finish.”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Cascina delle Rose Langhe Nebbiolo 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $36, that’s $34.20 at 5% off and $32.40 at 10% off, 22 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 89 points “The 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo is an attractive, deeply aromatic wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Crushed flowers, sweet red-tone fruit, spice and hard candy lend an exotic flair. This mid-weight Langhe Nebbiolo is a charmer. (Drink between 2024-2028).”
Winery Note “The vineyard is located in the municipality of Barbaresco, in lean soils, rich in mineral salts and densely stratified. Bright garnet red, elegant fruity and floral notes, deep, clean, the clear expression of the grape variety. Dense texture of tannins, fine, silky. Very persistent finish.”

Cascina delle Rose Marcorino, Barbaresco DOCG 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $89, that’s $84.55 at 5% off and $80.10 at 10% off, 10 bottles in stock now
Kerin O’Keefe 97 points “A new entry for Cascina delle Rose, the fragrant 2021 Marcorino opens with enticing aromas of violet, rose, menthol and pine forest. Made with grapes hailing from the Marcorino cru in Neive, it showcases the estate’s hallmark elegance and winemaker Davide Sobrino’s delicate hand, delivering juicy raspberry, succulent red cherry, star anise and a hint of almond before a savory mineral close. It’s linear and loaded with energy and finesse thanks to firm, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity.”

Cascina delle Rose Barbaresco Rio Sordo, Barbaresco DOCG 2020 750ml Displayed Price: $74.50, that’s $70.78 at 5% off and $67.05 at 10% off, 19 bottles in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 95 points “This is Cascina delle Rose’s other single-vineyard wine from a second nearby site in the village of Barbaresco. The 2020 Barbaresco Rio Sordo is slightly more linear and streamlined compared to the Tre Stelle in this vintage. That wine felt more immediate to me, but the Rio Sordo feels more long-term thanks to elegant fruit, crushed stone and sweet licorice aromas it offers.”
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 94 points “The 2020 Barbaresco Rio Sordo is quite a bit more reticent than the Tre Stelle. Bright acids and insistent tannins cut through a core of dark-fleshed fruit. There’s a feeling of youthful austerity that renders this super classic in feel. The 2020 is going to need some time to come together, but it is super impressive. I especially admire the translucent energy here.”

Cascina delle Rose Barbaresco Rio Sordo, Barbaresco DOCG 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $89, that’s $84.55 at 5% off and $80.10 at 10% off, 19 bottles in stock now
Kerin O’Keefe 97 points “The 2021 Cascina delle Rose Rio Sordo is another stunner from this fantastic estate starting with its compelling aromas of forest berry, camphor, wild rose and dark exotic spice. More firmly structured than Tre Stelle and Marcorino, it has tightly wound, fine-grained tannins that support juicy Morello cherry, raspberry, licorice and ground clove while fresh acidity keeps it balanced and energized. This needs a little more time to fully come together and will age beautifully.”

Cascina delle Rose Tre Stelle, Barbaresco DOCG 2020 750ml Displayed Price: $74.50, that’s $70.78 at 5% off and $67.05 at 10% off, 10 bottles in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 94 points “The 2020 Barbaresco Tre Stelle is a delight to drink. The character of this vintage is more accessible for sure, and the fruit is very bright and supple. But there’s no harm in drinking this warm-vintage release of 7,500 bottles on the early side while all its primary aromas are so intact and enticing. The tannins are soft, and the wine shows medium richness to close.”
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 93 points “The 2020 Barbaresco Tre Stelle is a racy, sensual wine. Soft contours wrap around a core of sweet dried cherry, mint, cinnamon, cedar, new leather and rose petal. Already quite open, the 2020 will drink well with minimal cellaring. Sweet floral top notes lift the finish. This is nicely done.”

Cascina delle Rose Tre Stelle, Barbaresco DOCG 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $89, that’s $84.55 at 5% off and $80.10 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
Kerin O’Keefe 97 points “Racy, refined and radiant, the already accessible 2021 Tre Stelle from Cascina delle Rose offers enticing scents of rose, crushed mint, wild cherry and a whiff of vineyard dust. All about finesse, the radiant palate delivers succulent red cherry, cranberry, white pepper and star anise set against well integrated, elegant tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it beautifully balanced and vibrant.”

Easter Pairings Featurette:
Sequitur
Looking for an impressive Oregon estate to grace your Easter table? Look no further than Sequitur! These complex whites and reds from the founder Beaux Frères of will wow your guests, providing the perfect pairing to spring vegetables, smoked and glazed ham, or even tender lamb chops!
Mike Etzel, the founder and winemaker of Sequitur, is a living legend in the Willamette Valley. He co-founded Beaux Frères in the late 1980s and was the winemaker there until recently passing the duties to his son. Never one to rest on his laurels, though, he began planting a vineyard adjacent to Beaux Frères in 2010—a project that became what we know as Sequitur.
It’s helpful to think of Sequitur as a distillation of everything Mike Etzel learned while starting and producing Beaux Frères over the decades. The Sequitur vineyard sits right next to the Beaux Frères “Upper Terrace” but is planted to a wider array of clones at tighter spacing. It’s been farmed biodynamically since the beginning and is sheltered with Douglas Fir—in short, it’s the fully realized vision of a man who’s helped define Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.
The winemaking style is exactly what you’d expect—these are wines that are made by the same hand that delivered so many high scores to Beaux Frères. Big, powerful and bold, these nevertheless have energy and grace that we think comes from the extra-attentive farming and unique clonal selection in the vineyard. In short order, Sequitur has established itself as one of the very best producers in the Willamette Valley and deserves your attention as such.
In Stock Now:
Sequitur Chardonnay, Ribbon Ridge 2021 750ml $66 special, 24 bottles in stock now
James Suckling 93 points “A deliciously vibrant chardonnay with lemons, jasmine, brown rice, hazelnuts, white grapefruit and apricots. It’s medium-bodied, sleek and elegant, with gentle butter and pastry undertones to the fresh fruit. Long and creamy at the end. Drink now or hold.”

Sequitur Chardonnay, Ribbon Ridge 2023 750ml $51.90 special, 11 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “The 2023 vintage called for a slight change our fermentation management. As we have previously fermented in stainless steel and aged a small percentage of new oak, this year’s Chardonnay finished primary fermentation in new, lightly toasted French oak puncheons – and aged in those same barrels. The result is a wine with more weight, without moving away from Oregon’s hallmark leaner style. Technical Information: Harvested on September 10th by a small in-house team. The fruit was first crushed, then pressed. Allowed to brown completely with no sulfur added, the juice was barreled down sequentially to two new 500L French oak puncheons. Harnessed the warmth of the sun to bring the juice up to fermentation temperature. After 12 months in barrel, the wine was racked only once to stainless steel for 3 months, before being bottled in January 2025.”

Sequitur “Non Sequitur” Chardonnay, Chehalem Mountains 2023 750ml $51.90 special, 11 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Sequitur’s first ever non-estate bottling, the Non-Sequitur Chardonnay is a great contrast to our estate. Grown in the Chehalem Mountains by Michael’s son Michael Jr., Non-Sequitur provides a direct connection to two generations of Etzels in a single bottle. Technical Information: Harvested on September 5th, the fruit was first crushed and then pressed into stainless. Allowed to brown completely with no sulfur added, the juice was first homogenized in stainless steel, brought to fermentation by the warmth of the sun, then barreled down to 50% new French oak for native fermentation. After 12 months in barrel, the wine was racked only once to stainless steel for 3 months, before being bottled in January 2025.”

Sequitur White Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge 2023 750ml $51.90 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “The Sequitur Pinot Noir grapes utilized to produce our White Pinot Noir are harvested from the shaded portions of our vineyard – three long edges that are lined with tall, old-growth doug firs. These shaded areas provide an elongated maturation of the fruit, which allows us to retain the brightness we’re searching for. Now our third year of production in this style, our 2023 White Pinot Noir is a continuing example of utilizing our vineyard to its full potential. Technical Information: Harvested on September 20th by a small in-house team. The fruit was first chilled, then pressed with an extremely gentle cremant cycle to avoid extracting color and phenolics. The juice was collected in stainless steel, no sulfur added, warmed in the sun to start fermentation, and barreled down to 40% new French oak for native fermentation. After 12 months in barrel, the wine was racked only once to stainless steel for 3 months, before being bottled in January 2025.”

Sequitur “Sundog” Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge 2021 750ml $89 special, 1 bottle in stock now
Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 94-96 points “I tasted the 2021 Sequitur Pinot Noir about three weeks before it was bottled. Medium ruby-purple in color, it has intense aromas of pomegranate, rhubarb and even boysenberry, plus accents of garrigue, conifer and orange peel. The medium-bodied palate is chalky and refreshing with addicting bursts of juicy acidity, generous, nuanced fruit and a very long, layered finish.”

Sequitur “Triple Seven” Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge 2022 750ml $85 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Audrey Frick-Jeb Dunnuck 97 points “The 2022 Pinot Noir Triple Seven was raised in 30% new French oak and fermented in concrete. A jeweled ruby color with a light magenta hue, it’s pure and spicy with a savory depth to its notes of ripe raspberry, preserved cherries, wild roses, and mossy earth. Medium-bodied, it has a wonderfully refreshing feel, with ripe, well-defined tannins and a long, tapered, spiced finish. It’s crispy and refreshing all the way through. Drink 2026-2040.”
This is the lowest listed price in the USA today!
Sequitur “Blue” Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge 2023 750ml $79 special, 10 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “The 2023 Sequitur Pinot Noir wonderfully captures the vibrancy of this vintage. A wine of incredible potential, ‘Blue’ will cellar for many, many years to come. In Michael’s words, the structure reminds him of Nebbiolo intertwined with the wire-taught tension of a fresh Côte de Nuits. We couldn’t agree more, and we’re eager to see how ‘Blue’ evolves. Technical Information: Harvested between September 10th through September 15th 2023. Fermented natively in a mix of closed and open top concrete fermenters. No whole cluster. After a handful of days of cold soak, the ferment was allowed to come up to temperature naturally, and managed by pump over daily with a handful of punch downs incorporated at the peak of fermentation activity. Gently pressed after 18 to 20 days on skins, settled at most for 24 hours, and barreled down to 35% new French oak. In barrel for 12 months, racked only once to stainless steel for 3 months, before being bottled in January 2025.”

Sequitur “Blue” Amphora Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge 2023 750ml $95 special, 8 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Our first pick of the vintage, the production team hand-harvested three of our heritage clones out of the Sequitur vineyard (Calera, 89, and 115) to fit in to our two Italian terra cotta amphoras, which allowed us to usher in the 2023 Sequitur harvest together. Our Pinot Noir Amphora represents a view into the vintage’s refined sensibility, as a product of a ‘neutral’ ancient vessel. Drink now to capture it’s alive, youthful expression – or age for years to come. Technical Information: Harvested on September 8th and 10th 2023, and fermented natively in two separate terra cotta amphora. 15% whole cluster was incorporated into one of the amphora. Ferment was primarily managed by pump over and gentle hand mixes. After 17 days on skins, the two amphora were pressed together. Free run and press fractions were combined into one amphora for aging. 11 months in amphora, racked to stainless steel for 4 months, before being bottled in January 2025.”
