Belle Glos Pinot Noir Los Alturas Vineyard 2009 ($49.95) $29 vinopolflash special SOLD OUT
Wine Spectator 92 points “Bold, rich and layered, exhibiting dense dark berry fruit that shows touches of spice, wild berry and blackberry, with attractive floral scents. Full-bodied, this expands on the finish, where the flavors fan out. Best from 2012 through 2020.” Wine Enthusiast 92 points “A big, rich, full-bodied wine, flashy and dramatic. Floods the mouth with cherry-berry flavors, yet somehow feels light and elegant despite the weight and tannins, which is a kind of magic. You’ll find all kinds of raspberries, cherries, sandalwood and exotic spices, but the wine isn’t really ready. Give it 3–4 years in the cellar”

Wine Spectator 93 points “This is dark and reticent for now, but also pure and loaded with a big core of plum and blackberry fruit, mocha, graphite, licorice and fig cake notes. The long, velvety finish just sails along, with latent grip in reserve. Best from 2009 through 2028”

Domaines de Baumard Coteaux Layon Clos Ste Catherine 2006 ($49.95) $33 vinopolflash special SOLD OUT
Stephen Tanzer 92 points “Silver-straw color. Offers the same high-pitched, mineral-driven citrus profile of the St. Vincent but with added elements of yellow plum and pungent herbs. Lively but deeply concentrated orange and orchard fruit flavors show weightier nectarine and mango qualities in the mid-palate, with a dusty mineral element adding focus. The herbal quality repeats on the tangy finish. For the price ($50), this is a steal.”

Domaines de Baumard Quarts de Chaume 1990 ($119.95) $79 vinopolflash special SOLD OUT
Robert Parker 96 points “This wine was among those served at a tasting I attended at the Domaine des Baumards in June, 1997 which covered all the wines Jean Baumard has crafted over his career as well as some older ones (back to 1906!). This event is one of the most memorable of my life. I was amazed by the ageworthiness and extremely high quality of Baumard’s wines, both in the sweet and dry offerings. But more poignantly, I was stunned that Jean Baumard would invite people from around the world to come taste, criticize, enjoy and judge every wine he had ever crafted. To have his life’s work dissected in his presence, vintage by vintage, is a testimony to Baumard’s courage, honesty and pride. How many of us would want to have all our work judged in such a manner? Baumard, ever modest, was his own biggest critic. Space constraints prevent me from including notes on the wines so I have only listed the best one.” Wine Spectator 94 points- 2004 retrospective tasting This puts it all together–mature, creamy palate of green tea, almond, quince paste and papaya–with still-fresh hints of orange blossom and minerals. Long, pure, elegant finish is in perfect balance, allowing it to show beautifully today. Drink now through 2015 ”
