Marc Colin
Founded in 1970 in the Burgundy village of St. Aubin, Domaine Marc Colin produces mostly white wines sourced from holdings in Chassagne, Puligny, and Santenay, and – of course – St. Aubin. Their wines have earned respect and acclaim for their purity and elegance.
Now under the direction of Marc’s children, John, Damien, and Caroline (the eldest, Pierre-Yves, left in 2005 to establish his own estate affectionately abbreviated to PYCM), Domaine Marc Colin has reached the upper echelon of Burgundy.
The estate works over 45 acres of vines, including in the Grand Cru vineyards of Montrachet and Batard-Montrachet. As an exclusively family-run operation, production has remained miniscule in spite of their increasing international fame. Vines are worked sustainably, and some parcels age over 100 years, resulting in incredibly complex wines for the money.
Unlike much of St. Aubin, the Colin parcels are situated on slopes, with their finest holdings being in the En Remilly and Montceau vineyards. Harvest is done manually, no chemical fertilizers are used, and new oak is used sparingly nowadays. More recent vintages have been stunning in their clarity and freshness.
You can enjoy the fruits of their craftsmanship during our special three-day sale.

“The 2020 Bourgogne Chardonnay, which comes from three parcels in Puligny-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin, has quite a pithy, peach-skin-scented bouquet. The palate is well balanced with a fine thread of acidity, a nice touch of bitter lemon and a brisk, saline finish. Fine. Drink 2023-2027.” -Neal Martin, Vinous

Domaine Marc Colin et Fils Bourgogne Chardonnay 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $41.90, that’s $39.81 at 5% off and $37.71 at 10% off, 14 bottles in stock now
“The 2022 Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from three parcels in Puligny and Saint-Aubin, the latter of which Damien Colin feels imparts freshness into the cuvée. There is decent intensity on the nose that seems to have a bit of reduction at the moment – it just needs time, of course. The palate is well-balanced with a crisp line of acidity and yellow plum mixed with tangerine with a bright, sapid lime cordial finish. Fine. (Drink between 2024-2030).” -Neal Martin, Vinous

Domaine Marc Colin et Fils Les Castets, Saint-Aubin Premier Cru 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $79, that’s $75.05 at 5% off and $71.10 at 10% off, 13 bottles in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 90-92 points “Back after being blended into a generic Premier Cru last year, the 2022 Saint-Aubin Les Castets 1er Cru has a tightly-wound bouquet with Granny Smiths and quite potent flinty elements drawing you more towards Puligny. The palate is well-balanced with a lightly spiced opening. Very malic, which is remarkable considering the warmth that summer, with veins of stem ginger and crushed stone towards the finish. Quite uncompromising… in a good way. (Drink between 2025-2038).”

Domaine Marc Colin et Fils ‘Cuvee 5 C’, Saint-Aubin Premier Cru 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $79, that’s $75.05 at 5% off and $71.10 at 10% off, 7 bottles in stock now
William Kelley-Wine Advocate 91-93 points “A blend of premiers crus Combes, Charmois, Castets, Créot and Sous Roche Dumay, all of which were hit hard by the April frosts, the 2021 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru exhibits aromas of pear, sweet citrus oil and buttery pastry, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive palate that’s layered and chalky, with a long, penetrating finish.”

Domaine Marc Colin et Fils En Montceau, Saint-Aubin Premier Cru 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $89, that’s $84.55 at 5% off and $80.10 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
Burghound 92 points “In contrast to the expressiveness of the Chatenière, here the nose is reticent and distinctly cool with its range of Granny Smith apples, wet stone and soft floral nuances, especially acacia and lilac. There is outstanding volume and richness to the punchy medium weight flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that buffers the firm acid spine buffering the beautifully long and youthfully austere finish. En Montceau is always one of my favorites among the Colin St. Aubin 1ers and it is again in 2022. (Drink starting 2030).”

Domaine Marc Colin et Fils Montrachet Grand Cru 2019 750ml Was $1,699, Displayed Price: $1,599, that’s $1,519.05 at 5% off and $1,439.10 at 10% off, 1 bottle in stock now
Jasper Morris 96-99 points “The 2019 production consists of one normal 228l barrel and one of 285 litres neither, brand new. There are some toasty notes from the wood while the detailed elements of fruit remain covered by the intensity. This wine is sitting back on its haunches, really promising. There is a huge sweetness of fruit through the middle, a very proper toastiness, a fine acidity. This massive Montrachet still retains enough lightness on its feet despite the majesty of the vineyard. Long too. Of course!”

Jasper Morris 96-98 points “One barrel which is by measure – 280 litres, made with new dowels but one year old ends. A fuller yellow, with massive energy, multiple fruits through the yellow and white spectra, yet also rich summer flowers. Impressive density as one would hope, then firm acidity behind, still such a baby, and then suddenly the wine kicks on to another dimension at the finish, with a reprise of all the fruits and a greater sense of harmony. Drink from 2030-2040.”
Domaine Marc Colin et Fils Santenay 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $45, that’s $42.75 at 5% off and $40.50 at 10% off, 9 bottles in stock now
VinopolNote: Floral and berry aromas. Delicate fruity notes, bright acidity and soft tannins. Goes great with poultry and oven roasted veggies.

Easter Pairings Featurette:
Zorzal
Not to be confused with the Spanish winery of the same name (Vina Zorzal), the Argentinian Zorzal makes groundbreaking, exciting wines in Gualtallary, some 50 miles east of Santiago de Chile, on the east side of the snow-capped Andes. The ultra-modern, gravity-fed winery and its 173 acres of vineyards lie at 4400 feet above sea level, with cool breezes coming off the impressive backdrop of Andes Mountains.
The wines offer refreshing takes on classic Argentinian grapes. Aged in amphora, the whites Blanc de Cal is textural and layered. The Tinto de Tiza is their flagship Malbec, showcasing the vibrant fruit profile through the lens of limestone-rich soils. Those looking for a more classic take on Malbec should consider their Gran Terroir. This bold red sees a year in French oak, resulting in classic berry cobbler and chocolate notes offset by the lush tannins. Enjoy these picks with your Easter meal or any springtime occasion!
In Stock Now:
Zorzal Eggo Blanc de Cal, Tupungato, Argentina 2019 750ml $24 special, 5 bottles in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 94 points “2019 was cooler than 2018, and the 2019 Eggo Blanc de Cal is even fresher and stonier than the 2018 I tasted last time. This wine is never about the grape variety, and it’s like liquid chalk, even more so in 2019. It matured in concrete eggs for 10 months. This is always produced from a limestone-rich plot in the Tupungato Winelands. Half of the wine fermented with the skins, but it doesn’t have any “orange” characteristics. It’s sharp and super tasty. Amazing value. 7,775 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2019.”

Zorzal Eggo Tinto de Tiza, Gualtallary, Argentina 2017 750ml $24 special, 11 bottles in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 94 points “The mouthfeel of the 2017 Eggo Tinto de Tiza was like biting into a piece of chalk (“tiza” is the Spanish word for chalk), the texture provided by the limestone-rich soils from Gualtallary, especially in the higher part of this large region. This wine is not about the varieties (it’s a blend to start with) but about the place, the soils, the local vegetation, the austerity and the wilderness.”

Zorzal Gran Terroir Malbec, Gualtallary, Argentina 2022 750ml $21.90 special, 32 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “This hand harvested, single vineyard wine, from Gualtallary is 100% Malbec and spends 12 months in French oak barrels. A large nose of blueberry, blackberry, vanilla, and smoky tobacco leads to a big and bold palate of fig newtons, dry leaves, dark chocolate, and powdered sugar. The finish lasts with big, smooth tannins and fruit galore.”
