Beaujolais
We at Vinopolis love a good bargain, and for that we regularly turn to Beaujolais. Could there be a more perfect red? We’re not so sure. It’s certainly one of the most flexible for the money (we can’t drink Oregon Pinot every day!). Delicious now, yet surprisingly cellar-worthy, flexible from appetizers to the cheese course, innovative yet deeply loved by traditionalist, cult yet affordable, Beaujolais has it all. Now you can, too.

We offer thirty-two Beaujolais options on sale now, including:
Dupeuble Pere et Fils Beaujolais Nouveau 2024 750ml Displayed Price: $21.90, that’s $20.81 at 5% off and $19.71 at 10% off, 25 bottles in stock now
Grapelive 90 points “The 2024 Dupeble Nouveau is bright ruby and vibrantly fresh with good fruit and loads of spicy character, it is less bubble gum and cotton candy, with more traditional Village like flavors and subtle savory notes, starting with cherry, strawberry and tangy plum fruits, light florals, cinnamon, pepper and rosemary herbs. Light bodied, but texturally pleasing and easy to quaff, this is my kind of vintage, and it won’t be my last bottle of this stuff”
Importer Note “The Dupeuble Nouveau is never chaptalized, cold-stabilized, sterile-filtered, or pasteurized, as many are. The 2024 Dupeuble Beaujolais Nouveau is made in the style that we’ve always insisted upon—estate- grown, hand-harvested, naturally fermented and bottled unfiltered with very tiny amounts of sulfur.”
Daniel Bouland Morgon Les Delys “Vignes plantées en 1926” 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $49, that’s $46.55 at 5% off and $44.10 at 10% off, 11 bottles in stock now
William Kelley-Wine Advocate 94 points “The 2021 Morgon Les Delys Vignes plantées en 1926 is deep and brooding, unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries, cherries, exotic spices, cracked black pepper and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a long, resonant finish, it represents a terrific achievement from Bouland.”
Louis Jadot Chāteau des Jacques Morgon 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $29, that’s $27.55 at 5% off and $26.10 at 10% off, 12 bottles in stock now
Decanter 92 points “The blended ‘village’ Morgon from Chāteau des Jacques is delicious, with a fairly deep colour, dark plummy fruit, and hints of black tea, anise and earth. The texture is tannic, dense and firm, but there is enough freshness to guarantee that this continues to sing on the palate. The grapes are from the granite soils of Courcelette (where this domaine owns 14ha) and the Roches Pourries of the Cōte du Py (where there are another 6ha). The combination provides a wine of harmonious elegance that is in no way lacking in power or length. (Drink between 2024-2035).”

Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-à-Vent 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $31.90, that’s $30.31 at 5% off and $28.71 at 10% off, 36 bottles in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 91 points “The 2022 Moulin-à-Vent has a sapid, marine-tinged bouquet, hints of shucked oyster shell infusing the dark berry fruit. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly furry tannins, spicier than the Morgon, with a little more edginess and pepperiness on the finish. Very fine. (Drink between 2024-2032).”

Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-à-Vent Clos de Rochegres 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $49, that’s $46.55 at 5% off and $44.10 at 10% off, 12 bottles in stock now
Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-à-Vent Clos de Rochegres 2022 1.5L Displayed Price: $106, that’s $100.70 at 5% off and $95.40 at 10% off, 3 magnums in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 90 points “The 2022 Moulin-à-Vent Clos de Rochegrès has more complexity on the nose compared to the regular cuvée: more floral, iris flower scents filtering through the dark berry fruit, and hints of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It’s fleshy, but right at the finish, it is a tad sweeter than I would like, lacking a bit of sapidity and tension. Near, yet not quite there! That said, it remains a decent Moulin-à-Vent that will benefit from a couple of years in bottle. (Drink between 2025-2033).”

Georges Descombes Morgon Vieilles Vignes 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $36, that’s $34.20 at 5% off and $32.40 at 10% off, 14 bottles in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 92 points “The 2021 Morgon Vieilles Vignes is quite backward on the nose – marineinfluenced, dark berry fruit intermixed with tea and bay leaves. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-chiseled tannins. It is beautifully balanced, lightly spiced with gentle grip on the finish that conveys a very appealing sense of symmetry. Classically styled Morgon.”

Domaine Louis Claude Desvignes Morgon Chāteau Gaillard 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $33, that’s $31.35 at 5% off and $29.70 at 10% off, 23 bottles in stock now
William Kelley-Wine Advocate 90 points “Aromas of cherries, smoky berries and plums preface the 2021 Morgon Chāteau Gaillard, a medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping wine with a sweet core of fruit, lively acids and an open, giving profile. Cropped at a yield of 17 hectoliters per hectare as a result of frost, it was entirely destemmed this year.”

Jean-Louis Dutraive Domaine de la Grand’Cour Fleurie ‘Clos de la Grand’Cour’ 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $41.90, that’s $39.81 at 5% off and $37.71 at 10% off, 24 bottles in stock now
Jean-Louis Dutraive Domaine de la Grand’Cour Fleurie ‘Clos de la Grand’Cour’ 2022 1.5L Displayed Price: $99, that’s $94.05 at 5% off and $89.10 at 10% off, 3 magnums in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 92 points “The 2022 Fleurie Clos de la Grand Cour comes from the 6.5-hectare walled vineyard that surrounds the family house, mainly 40- to 50-year-old vines, aged one-third in foudres and two-thirds in used barrels. This has a more complex bouquet than the Chapelle des Bois, a touch more intensity and ripeness with vivacious red cherries and crushed strawberries. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy and exuberant red fruit, a healthy sprinkling of white pepper and a very cohesive and persistent finish. Superb. (Drink between 2025-2034).”
Yohan Lardy Moulin-a-Vent Les Michelons 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $26, that’s $24.70 at 5% off and $23.40 at 10% off, 12 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “With its 71 localities, the Moulin-à-Vent appellation is rich in history. Recognized as the 1er cru of Beaujolais in 1924, it was sold at the same price as a Vosne-Romanée 1er cru until the dawn of the Second World War. On my plot, the old vines were planted in 1950 and 1911 on the “Les Michelons” climate in the heights of Moulin a Vent. The vines form an enclosure surrounded by a low stone wall and poppies. A setting that I preserve every day.”
No review for the 2023 vintage. 2022 review provided for reference.
Wine Enthusiast 92 points “This is a complex and floral Moulin-à-Vent with depth of flavor. The wine has a nose of raspberry, black cherry, dried mushroom and rosehip. Concentration on the midpalate is led with black fruit supported by ripe, slightly grippy tannins. — Reggie Solomon”

Biondi-Santi
Biondi-Santi is the crème de la crème of high-end Brunello. This winery, and the individuals that bore it into existence, were the founders of the region of Brunello di Montalcino. Through their nearly 200-year history, they have embodied the identity of quality, tradition, and longevity.
In Stock Now:
Biondi Santi Tenuta Greppo Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017 750ml Was $219, Now $179, 2 bottles in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 96 points “A delicately sweet note of fresh summer cherry is a precursor to budding complexity and a very articulate bouquet that opens quickly in the glass. Immediately pleasing fruit is a characteristic of the 2017 growing season that had above average temperatures and drought throughout the summer. The resistant 2017 Brunello di Montalcino takes on these challenges without missing a beat. The wine’s celebrated acidity and its small berry nuances remain intact. The tannins are silky and the wine’s flavors fade slowly even after you have taken your last sip.”
Jeb Dunnuck 96 points “The 2017 Brunello Di Montalcino is surprising in its freshness considering the warmth of the vintage and speaks to the cooler northern-facing exposition of the estate. It is refined with ripe red cherry raspberry anise and incense and is fresh with cherry fruit warming spices macchia and herbes de Provence. It is ripe though it maintains a medium frame with well-managed tannins and balanced acidity. It is a lovely and charming wine and is rather approachable now. Drink 2024-2040.”
Biondi Santi Tenuta Greppo Riserva, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2011 750ml Was $419, Now $379, 11 bottles in stock now
Wine Enthusiast 96 points “Beautifully balanced, this opens with alluring scents of wild berry, rose, baking spice and whiffs of chopped herb. Seamlessly combining ripe fruit and the firm’s trademark finesse, the bright elegantly structured palate delivers juicy wild cherry, crushed raspberry, white pepper and a hint of black tea framed in polished tannins and fresh acidity. It’s already tempting but the best is yet to come. Drink 202-2031.”
Biondi Santi Tenuta Greppo Riserva, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 750ml Was $699, Now $619, 5 bottles in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 99 points “Wow, here is a vintage I’ve been anxiously waiting to try. The 2016 growing season was one of the best in recent memory in Montalcino, and if we look back in time, this vintage marks the year Biondi-Santi was sold to a French group. The prestigious 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva proves a mighty collector’s bottle that will undoubtedly gain in complexity and depth with careful bottle age. The wine offers wild nuances of forest berry and tart cherry, and there are herbal side notes as well as floral tones of dried violet and lilac. The tannins are soft, powdery and feel like they melt away on the palate.”
Jeb Dunnuck 98 points “The 2016 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva is layered and unfolds in the glass with incense baking spice ripe red cherry and cedar. It has more concentration and length through the mid-palate and offers an impeccable balance of structure ripeness and tension. It is expressive on the nose but it is even more impactful at this stage with its intensity through the palate with nearly electric energy of wild raspberry rose petal tea leaf and orange zest. Allow for cellaring another 3-4 years. Drink 2026-2046.”

Champagne of the Day:
A. Margaine
Since 1989, Arnaud Margaine has helmed his family’s estate in the Premier Cru village of Villers-Marmery in the Montagne de Reims. He sells some of his estate’s fruit to Clicquot, Bollinger and Lanson. He’s not one to rest on his laurels, and still experiments with vinifying in used barrel or using cover crops in the vineyard to make the roots dig deeper, all with the goal of improving quality over the long term.
Today, the estate is being increasingly taken over by his energetic and incredibly knowledgeable daughter, Mathilde Margaine, who is the fifth generation to run the estate and the first woman. The wines are light and ethereal, and will only improve in the cellar for several years.
In Stock Now:
A. Margaine ‘Le Brut’ Premier Cru, Champagne NV 750ml $54.50 special, 21 bottles in stock now
“Fresh and floral, with the fine, lacy mousse supporting well-meshed notes of blanched almond and ripe Gala apple and nectarine fruit, plus hints of fleur de sel and oyster shell. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Disgorged January 2023. Drink now.” –Wine Spectator
A. Margaine Cuvee Traditionelle Premier Cru Demi-Sec NV 750ml $49 special, 4 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 92 points “The NV Cuvée Le Demi-Sec is absolutely gorgeous, as it so often is. Lemon drop, white flowers and baked apple tart are nicely amplified by the 18 grams of residual sugar. Demi-Sec is a bit of a lost art these days; few do it better than Margaine. This release is 88% Chardonnay and 12% Pinot Noir, based on 2019, with reserve wines from 2018, 2017, 2014 and 2013. Dosage is 32 grams per liter. Disgorged: January, 2022.” [Disgorgement date may vary]
