“Château Saint Cosme– More New Arrivals From a Vinopolis Favorite”
Château Saint Cosme is the benchmark for the Gigondas region. Wine has been produced on the site of Saint Cosme since Roman times, evident by the ancient vats carved into the limestone below the château. The Château itself has been in the hands of the Barruol family since 1490. Louis Barruol, the current owner and winemaker took over from his father in 1992, which marked a dramatic upswing in quality including the beginning of their négociant wines and converting to biodynamic farming in 2010. These wines represent their bustling négociant productions, made in a style that is both ripe and fresh— their northern and southern Rhône offerings age well, but drink well younger than is typical of the region.
